CLEANING PROCCESS
Edison Medical use an advanced and thorough implant cleaning process for all dental implants to ensure surface
structure and surface chemical composition and its purity grade.
All implant products follow a multi-stage cleaning path before declared medically clean and ready for the
packaging process.
Special Cleaning Considerations
:: Composition of the particles
:: Identity of any treatments to remove particles from implant surfaces
:: Identity of agents used in particle removal
:: Chemical analysis of the surface to verify that any chemicals used to remove particles have been washed from the
surface
:: Photomicrographs of blasted surfaces to show whether or not there are particles remaining behind on the surface
:: Prior to sterilization by radiation, all implants go through a process for cleaning after the manufacturing process
(pre-sterilization). The steps are: Washing after machining, Aluminal Blasting, and Acid Treatment.

The analysis was executed using the facilities of the Material Engineering Faculty of the Israel Technion Institute: FEI
Quanta scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Inca X-ray analyzer attached to the electron microscope. The analysis included: Inspection of the surface in backscattering electrons, which due to good elemental contrast,
enables detection of the impurities on the surface of the implants, EDS analysis of the typical impurity particles.

The Fortis® has a semi-conical implant body and its thread shape are less aggressive than Lamina. This
design provides minimal pressure on dense bone and slight bone compression and therefore, most suitable
for use with bone types D1 & D2.

Zirconia abutments were introduced into dental implantology as an alternative to
the metal abutments. Due to its biocompatibility,colour and its mechanical properties, Zirconia is a well suitable replacement for metal abutment. The bacterial
adhesion, which is important in the maintaining of zirconium restorations without
periodontal problems, was proven satisfactorily low. One main benefit is that no
allergic reactions can be expected when the zirconia is used. In addition, there is
almost no danger of corrosion which is often the problem with metal based abutment. It also boasts of its extraordinary strength and durability that could last for
a very long period of time. Metal free abutments are also resistant to any kinds of
acids that may interact with the mouth.

PROCEDURE
INTRODUCTION
:: Debridement of soft tissue employing a surgical curette within the bone
defect.
After tooth extraction and cleaning of the tooth socket with dedicated
curette in order to remove all of inflammatory and infectious tissue
(lesions like periapical lesions, dentoalveolar abcesses, periodontal lesions,
cysts) some remnants of soft tissue remain within the bone and inhibit
appropriate healing of the region and do not allow immediate implant
placement or bone implantation due to concern regarding infection. Most
investigators believe that an infected site should be viewed as a contraindication for implant placement or bone implantation. When the tooth
is extracted the area attracts soft tissue and bone cells with an excellent
regenerative and healing potential. If the site is infection-free the entire
extraction site can be reconstructed by using a membrane in case of
deficient or absent buccal or lingual wall, filling the cavity or gap with
allograft bone substance and performing primary closure. Usually within
6-8 weeks from extraction the soft tissue and bone regenerative cells are
well organized and their healing potential is substantially diminished. By
using the “Degranulation Kit” the practitioner can attain complete removal
of all elements that can potentially inhibit healing or promote infection.
:: Use of dedicated suction to remove blood from within the socket to
allow direct visualization of the socket walls, and identify regions that still
harbor soft tissue that penetrates the bone.

:: Atraumatic tooth extraction with an attempt to preserve the integrity of
the socket walls
:: Use the dedicated drill (fits the physio-dispenser) at drilling speeds
of 2000-2500 rpm and scraping the defect walls. The initial drill-based
scraping is done without water and only later water can be added to rinse
the drill and the socket and defect while employing the dedicated suction.
:: This procedure should be repeated until complete removal of the soft
tissue and cleaning of the defect is accomplished
EMPHASIZE
There is no need to sterilize or disinfect the site with chlorhexidine or
antibiotic solutions. The meticulous cleaning under direct visualization
employing the dedicated drill and suction should be sufficient to secure
the site to remain infection-free.

The UCLA Abutment is a castable abutment. It is offered with a machined base, made out by different metal
alloy such as: Titanium, Chrome Chobalt or Gold. It may be used for single or multi-unit screw or cementretained restorations. The UCLA abutment was designed to fix implant angulation problems and in some
cases depth problems (too much or too little), It may correct angles up to 30 degrees when cast as a custom
abutment. a casted abutment cannot compete with a machined abutment. That is why some “clever guy”
invented the overcasted UCLA that has a metal base (Ti or CrCo or AU) with a plastic sleeve and you overcast

Ideal Material for Accurate Casting
Used for single-unit screw retained or custom cement retained restoration. Chrome Cobalt (CoCr) base
provides more affordable alternative with great workability and accuracy. Our Burn-out products provides
high quality surface finish on cast items. Material melts during the burnout cycle, allowing it to melt out of the
investment without leaving any residue. This material is perfect for producing highly accurate and detailed
full partials for direct investment casting. It is also possible to produce a multiple unit bridge with a perfect
fit. Burn-out is a homogenous bending-resistant thermoplastic material used in the casting process. The
material used in the process must be selected as to compensate for the dimensional changes that occur
during the casting investment, including setting shrinkage / expansion of the casting investment.

ZIRCONIA
Zirconia abutments were introduced into dental implantology as an alternative to the metal abutments.
Due to its biocompatibility,colour and its mechanical properties, Zirconia is a well suitable replacement for
metal abutment. The bacterial adhesion, which is important in the maintaining of zirconium restorations
without periodontal problems, was proven satisfactorily low. One main benefit is that no allergic reactions
can be expected when the zirconia is used. In addition, there is almost no danger of corrosion which is
often the problem with metal based abutment. It also boasts of its extraordinary strength and durability
that could last for a very long period of time. Metal free abutments are also resistant to any kinds of acids

Zirconia-ZrO2
Zirconium dioxide is one of the most studied ceramic materials. Pure ZrO2 has a monoclinic crystal
structure at room temperature and transitions to tetragonal and cubic at increasing temperatures. Several
different oxides are added to zirconia to stabilize the tetragonal and/or cubic phases: magnesium oxide
(MgO), yttrium oxide, (Y2O3), calcium oxide (CaO), and cerium(III) oxide (Ce2O3).
