For Memorial Day, remember why we have a three-day weekend and do
something to honor our fallen soldiers. The Texas Chapter 2 of Rolling
Thunder will join an estimated 900,000 motorcycle riders over the holiday
weekend in Washington, DC, to continue their demonstration on behalf of
unaccounted for Vietnam era prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action.
The Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, will hold an
annual Memorial Day service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the holiday. You can
also make a donation to the Memorial Day Foundation, fly your flag at halfstaff or donate to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) volunteers you see
outside many storefronts. Your donation is always appreciated and you can
proudly wear the poppy you will receive.
