The City issued $8.7 billion in permits in ’14, a 41.0 percent increase over the $6.1 billion issued in ’13. Residential permit values rose 30.9 percent, from $2.3 billion to $3.0 billion, and nonresidential permits grew 47.2 percent, from $3.8 billion to $5.6 billion. Residential permits fell 17.4 percent, from $259.2 million in December ’13 to $214.1 million in December ’14. In contrast, permits for non-residential construction rose 11.1 percent, from $372.1 million in December ’13 to $413.3 million in December ’14.
