The Coalition of Behavioral Health Services Proudly Presents~ Substance Use Data: From Prevention to Postmortem Tuesday, April 14, 2015 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Map link: 50 Waugh Drive Houston, Texas 77007 PRESENTERS We have two presenters for this seminar. First is Emily Breeding, MA, who is the Regional Evaluator for the Prevention Resource Center 6, a program of The Council on Alcohol and Drugs Houston and the Department of State Health Services. Second is Jeff Walterscheid, Ph.D., the Assistant Chief Toxicologist for the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. PROGRAM Ms. Breeding’s presentation will describe research by the PRC on adolescent substance abuse, how the data they collect can help support your prevention or intervention efforts, and how you can get involved. At the end of the session, learners will be familiar with the PRC and the Regional Needs Assessment, be able to use tips to harness data to support grants and programs, and know about types of data available in our Region, and how to access it or contribute to it. Dr. Walterschied’s presentation will address trends associated with prescription, illicit, and designer drugs used in combinations, overdoses, desired effects that abusers are seeking, and ability to confirm these drugs in toxicology specimens.
