It is appreciated if parents phone, email or write a letter to the school in the morning stating the reason for absence. Ellen Stirling Primary School 23 Strathmore Parkway Ellenbrook From the Principal NAPLAN NAPLAN Testing is underway for the students in Years 3 and 5. The children are meeting this challenge with enthusiasm and to the best of their ability. Could all parents make sure that for the rest of the week, all noise is kept to a minimum and there are no classroom interruptions prior to recess. LATE STUDENTS There have been a number of students coming to school late in recent weeks. This is not acceptable as the students disturb the class when they enter and they miss out on the activities to prepare for the day, which are set up in the classroom prior to the siren going at 8:45 am. Please make sure your child is at school by the time the classroom doors open at 8.30 am so they can be in class with their possessions organised and ready to start when class starts. CAR PARKING Parents are not permitted to use the staff carpark for picking up and setting down their children. Parents who are delivering their children to school should use the designated carpark. It is not acceptable to sit with your car idling in the staff carpark restricting staff entry. Please be sensible about parking and drive carefully to care for other people’s children as well as your own. STUDENT SCHOOL UNIFORM Recently there have been a few issues with regard to deviation from the school uniform. Some of the older girls are wearing very short bike pants to school, which are fine if covered with a school skirt, but on their own are not acceptable. Also now that the cold weather has begun, children are wearing multi coloured skivvies under their school shirts, which are not school uniform. There are zip jackets for sale at the uniform shop which will provide warmth on cold mornings and still look smart as part of the required school uniform. Please ensure your child has the correct school uniform and appropriate foot cover. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THOSE PARENTS WHO: Encourage their children to access Mathletics at home. The Year 3 and Year 2 students are leading the whole school with accessing Mathletics Dress their children beautifully in their uniform every day. The way your children are presented shows pride that they are part of the Ellen Stirling community and they are a credit to the love and care you have for your children Send their children to school every day. Attendance data has a huge amount of children attending 100% of the time Have made a time with their child’s classroom teacher to come in and be a parent helper in the classroom. Teachers love having parents in the class to help with daily activities Support the new Ellen Stirling Behaviour Plan Our children are working well in class with such purpose and are trying hard to keep our play community a peaceful and harmonious environment Meet regularly with Mrs Barton on health plans and any changes as they occur Thank you to all parents, you have been such a big part of our school changing to becoming an Independent Public School. CHOIR Big CONGRATULATIONS to our certificate recipients for near perfect attendance, or 100% attendance last term. Attendance has been very disappointing over the last couple of weeks. It is essential that all students attend all choir rehearsals as we are constantly learning new songs and changing around the songs we are currently working on. If you are unable to attend choir it is imperative that you inform Miss Church so this can be recorded against your attendance and not just simply put down as a no show. Rehearsals Monday lunchtime 12:35 – 12: 50 pm Wednesday morning before school, 8:15 – 8:45 am (please can parents/guardians make sure students are not at school any earlier than 8:10 am) ROBIN HOOD AND THE SHERWOOD HOODIES Rehearsals have been going great. It is so good to see that the cast have been learning their lines even if they are an understudy. Keep up the good work everyone! This week’s rehearsal we will be going through scenes one and two, the entire cast is in both these scenes so all will need to attend. Next week’s rehearsals will be discussed on Thursday and a note sent home early that week outlining who will need to attend. Please keep an eye on the Performing Arts room door for any information regarding the production. The students and I went to Swan Valley Anglican School along with several other schools from around Perth, to learn how to be leaders in Jump Jam. The squad learnt a lot about technique and energy and this is something we have been working on during our rehearsal sessions. I cannot express how proud I am of our Jump Jam squad and the way they represented Ellen Stirling this past week. Rehearsals Tuesday morning before school 8:00 – 8:45 am Friday lunchtime 12:35 – 12:50 pm P&C Association From the Fundraising Team Thank you to all of the families and staff that supported our 50/50 Raffle drawn last week.
