Come Join Encore on Board A Spirit Cruise Thursday, July 23rd. Cooperation Benjamin Franklin is reported to have said at the signing of the Declaration of Independence. "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately," It’s not the guns nor armament, Nor funds that they can pay, But the close cooperation, That makes them win the day. It’s not the individual, Nor the army as a whole, But the everlasting team-work Of every bloomin' soul. Encore is sponsoring a trip on the Spirit Cruise Line that departs from Chelsea Piers in New York City. at 12:00 PM. Boarding of the ship takes place at 11:30. You will be given a delicious lunch buffet which is open throughout the cruise. A DJ will provide music for dancing and you will also want to make time to take in the incredible views floating by. A Tour guide provides interesting facts about sights along Spirit’s route like the Freedom Tower, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and Governors Island. You’ll also enjoy panoramic views of the New York City and New Jersey skylines from the windows along the dining decks or from our outdoor observation lounge. Tues., 7/28 1:15 Join us for the presentation on Age Related Vision Loss Tuesday July 28th WORKSHOP: “Age Related Vision Loss” Presented by Thomas L McCarville MA (Vision Rehabilitation Therapist) An increasing proportion of the aging population experiences eye problems that make simple daily tasks difficult or impossible, even when wearing glasses or contact lenses. Severe eye problems are not just a matter of "getting older." The risk of severe eye problems has been found to increase significantly with age, particularly in those over age 65. Most causes of age related visual impairment in the elderly are presbyopia, cataracts, age related macular degeneration, primary open angle glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Untreated visual impairment leads to physical handicap, increased incidence of fall, depression, social isolation and dependency. Active screening for visual loss in the elderly should be part of the health examination.
