2015 Rookie Stella Fella Day

PROGRAM
Rookie Stella Fella Day
& WORKSHOPS
The Rookie Stella Fella Day is an initiative run by PROJECT FUTURES to inspire and empower young
individuals with the determination and confidence to take action within their communities.
Stella Fella is our largest annual campaign educating and encouraging men and boys in the community to
make better choices. Violence and exploitation against women is a growing concern in local communities and
abroad. Stella Fella encourages and promotes good behaviour and through this two month campaign, we
showcase men and boys taking action on this issue.

STEPH LORENZO (Founder and CEO, PROJECT FUTURES)
FINDING YOUR PASSION & TAKING ACTION
Whilst on a trip to Cambodia, Stephanie visited centres whose aim was to rescue,
rehabilitate and reintegrate women and girls victimized by human trafficking and
sexual slavery. There she met a young girl Ly Thia who shared her story; a harrowing tale of one girl, dragged through the darkness of sexual slavery, yet despite
everything she had endured, she lived by three simple words: ‘Life is Love’. Stephanie will speak about the reality of human trafficking on a worldwide scale and has
a refreshing take on how we can combat this issue and become truly empowered
individuals with a higher purpose to make this world a better place.
ANDREW MORLEY (Celebrity Ambassador for PROJECT FUTURES)
MENTAL HEALTH & HUMAN RIGHTS
While his status as a heart-throb makes him an instant hit with teenagers, Andrew
has a serious message - the importance of human rights and mental health. He
brings an energy that is self-empowering, engaging with his audience as he speaks
truthfully from the heart. Central to his message is respecting others and the necessity to treat people as you would like to be treated yourself. He speaks about the
dangers of social networking, bullying and sexual objectification, sharing examples
from his own life, which has the most powerful impact on the students.
Principal Francis Laverty, from St Ciaran’s Community School in Kells said;
“Andrew is a truly remarkable young man who uses his celebrity to influence youngsters in a positive way and tries to show them the correct path to take in life. We
were delighted to welcome him to our school and both he and his positive message
will resonate long after his visit. A true star and positive role model - both on and off
screen!”
BIANCA ORSINI (THE FREEDOM PARTNERSHIP, SALVATION ARMY)
HOMELESSNESS
“If we can get young people to gain a broader understanding of the warning signs
and risk factors of homelessness then they have the potential to be part of the solution to intervene early and even prevent homelessness in our youth today.” If someone is at risk of or experiencing homelessness, it makes them vulnerable to people
who may exploit them. Some young Australians who experience homelessness find
themselves in slavery situations. Bianca will provide real-life examples in an effort
to educate and inform the students of the dangers of living on the streets.

LAURA VIDAL (THE FREEDOM PARTNERSHIP, SALVATION ARMY)
LEADERSHIP
How can you be a leader in your own community? Laura Vidal is Social Worker who
has been working with and advocating on behalf of people who have experienced
human trafficking and modern day slavery in Australia for the last 6 years. The key
to dismantling human trafficking and slavery in our communities is for people to be
aware and take action. Laura is passionate about encouraging others to find their
passion and become leaders in their own right. She believes everyone has the potential to be a leader if they are empowered with tools and opportunities.
