Below are some recycling facts for kids to help them understand its importance! Aluminum Around 80 billion aluminum beverage cans are used each year. The amount of aluminum thrown away each year is enough to rebuild our commercial airplane fleet 4 times. Paper The average paper consumption for Americans is 700 pounds per year (6 times the global average!). That is an average of 465 trees! If we all recycle our share of paper, we will save around 100 million tons of wood. Glass A glass bottle can take 40 centuries to be broken down if not recycled. You can power a personal computer for 1 hour from the energy saved by recycling a glass bottle. Plastic Two and a half million plastic bottles are used every hour in the US but only 25% of them get recycled. A nonbiodegradable plastic bag can take up to 400 years to break down. 4 JUNE 2015 TEECS ACTIVITIES Tuesday Wednesday 1 Thursday 2 3 6:00pm – Ukrainian Cultural Center 135 Davidson Ave 7 8 Grade 6 Pond Ecology Overnight Trip 14 4 5 6 13 6:00pm – Ukrainian Cultural Center 135 Davidson Ave 9 10 11 12 HALF DAY 12:30pm HALF DAY 12:30pm HALF DAY 12:30pm HALF DAY 12:30pm Super Hero Day Crazy Hat Day Friday Saturday Sunday Monday 15 16 Sportswear Day 17 24 Pajama Day 18 19 20 25 26 27 HALF DAY 12:30pm 6th Grade Social: 3-5pm @ Consolata 21 22 23 28 29 30 6/3 and 6/4 6/8 to 6/9 TEECS Drama Club present s “Peter Pan Jr.” Grade 6 Pond Ecology Overnight Camping Trip $5 admission for all 6/8-6/12 Spirit Week 6/8 – Crazy Hat Day 6/9 – Superhero Day 6/10 – Sportswear Day 6/11 – Pajama Day 6/12 – Decade Day 5 6/15 Last day of School! 6th Grade Social – 3-5pm Consolata Missionaries Community Events Source: www.newjersey.mommypoppins.com Circus Dance Festival Ann Can Middlesworth Park 17 Pleasant View Road Hillsborough, NJ NJ State Fair State Fair Meadowlands 1 MetLife Stadium Drive East Rutherford, NJ June 9 – July 5, 2015 Times vary Saturday, June 6, 2015 11 am – 3 pm The Circus Dance Festival is an opportunity for children to enjoy the wonders of the circus while learning to master real physical skills.
