March 21st, 2015 Dear Parent/ Guardian, Your son or daughter has been identified as a wrestler eligible for the Western Canada Summer Games. This prestigious event will take place August 7th -11th, 2015 in Wood Buffalo/ Fort McMurray Alberta. Team Manitoba will be determined at the WCSG Wrestling Trials Tournament to be held at Elmwood High School on May 16th. There are several training and competitive opportunities to prepare for the WCSG Trials as well as the games themselves: WCSG Spring Break Training Camp: March 30th - April 2nd Cadet/ Juvenile Canadian National Championship: April 9th- 12th WCSG Practices: M/W/F throughout April, May, and June WCSG Trials Tournament: May 23rd WCSG Summer Training Camp: July 13th-17th Spring Break Training Camp will be held at The Freight House, 200 Isabel Street. On-mat sessions begin at 1pm daily and will be followed with conditioning, nutrition, and sport psychology training. Evening mat sessions will be delivered by Kris Stasiak, Level 5 coach. Snacks and team building at Vertical Adventures are included in the low fee of $40.00. Billeting and travel support may be available for athletes living outside of Winnipeg and surrounding areas. Canadian Nationals will be held in Fredericton, NB. Hotel, airfare and registration will cost approximately $1,200.00/ person. Eligible athletes would be coached by provincial staff (if need be) and are entitled to a minimum of $200.00 in travel assistance. WCSG Practices will begin after Spring Break. These practices are open to anyone interested in competing for Team Manitoba. Alternate training arrangements will be necessary for athletes that cannot attend these practices.
