TEECS Newsletter March 19, 2015 92 Cortelyous Lane Somerset , NJ 08873 Spring Equinox, 6:45pm tomorrow 3/20/2015 Spring Arrives Astronomically speaking, the March Equinox occurs when the sun crosses the celestial equator on its way north along the ecliptic. In the Northern Hemisphere, the March Equinox is known as the vernal, or spring, equinox, and marks the start of the spring season. The March Equinox happens at the same moment across the world but is converted to local time. In 2015, it falls on March 20th at 6:45pm EDT, 5:45pm CDT, 4:45pm MDT, and 3:45pmPDT. The Vernal Equinox The word equinox is derived form the Latin words meaning “equal night.” All over the world, days and nights are approximately equal. This day, the Sun rises exactly in the East and sets exactly in the West. Friday, March 20th Possible Early Dismissal Tomorrow TEECS will be watching the weather overnight but please be prepared for a possible early dismissal tomorrow, Friday, 3/20/15. 1st PARCC Testing Completed Great Job Faculty & Students The kick off of PARCC was a great success. The 3rd & 4th grades finished last week and the 5th and 6th grades finish Additions tomorrow. There were very few technical problems due to the practice in the fall. Welcome New Staff & Faculty Everyone came together and provided the students what they needed to do their very best. Thank you to all the families for minimal absences and sending well-rested, attentive students to school. There will be more testing in May but the students did very well at getting regimented to the new testing system. Our School is growing and so is our family. Please be sure to welcome our new TEECS members.
