at Nagrota,” the official said.
He said that Defence
Minister also visited forward posts along the LoC
in Bhimber Gali sector of
Poonch district for on spot
assessment of the situation.
“At forward posts he was
given brief about sophisticated gadgets installed

in Baramulla, Hamid Nazir
Bhat, who has received
multiple pellet injuries in
his head, face and eyes,
in action by paramilitary
forces and police, may
not live a normal life again.
Hamid, 16, was on Saturday operated upon in his
critically injured right eye
by doctors at SKIMS Medical College Bemina here.
Not sure about the
conditions of the eye, the
doctors who performed the surgical procedures said
“things would be clear” only aer 48 hours.
“Our focus today was the open injury which we
have closed successfully,” said Dr Imtiyaz Ahmad.
“The extent of the damage that the eye has suffered
is very severe.”
There are at least two pellets stuck in Hamid’s eye.
The doctors would take a decision on removing them
aer 48 hours only since the injuries have resulted in
blood clot inside and outside the eye.

If Government of India issues passport to me,
that will not be any favour. Obtaining travel
documents is a basic right and its denial
tantamount to human rights violation.
New Delhi, May 23: Chief
Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed has said that
his coalition government
is committed to rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in
the Valley and that everything possible will be done
in due course of time.

Pandit organisations and
some prominent persons
here on Saturday, said
the PDP-BJP government
is just two month old and
the issue needs more time.
This would be achieved in
consultation with all stakeholders, he said. BJP general secretary Ram Madhav
was also present on the
occasion.
Prominent among those
who attended the meeting
were BJP MLC Surinder

Politics on my right to travel: Geelani
ARIF SHAFI WANI
Srinagar, May 23: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah
Geelani on Saturday hit out at political parties, accusing them of gaining
political mileage on his application
for passport to appease their vote
banks.
In an interview with Greater Kashmir, Geelani spoke at length on the
row over his application for passport
to meet his ailing daughter in Saudi
Arabia. Excerpts:
INTERVIEW
GK: Have you completed formalities for obtaining passport?
Geelani: For past several years, I
have been yearning to meet my ailing
daughter in Saudi Arabia and also
perform Hajj. I have submitted online
form for passport. But due to my continuous house arrest, rather illegal
confinement, I am not able to visit
the Passport Office to complete the
biometrics procedure.
GK: There have been mixed
reactions to your application for
passport. Many political parties
have strongly opposed issuance
of passport to you while some
regional parties including
ruling Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) have extended
support to you. How do you
view these developments?
