Travel Tips: Your Checklist for Aligning Your Staff
‡‡ Listen and understand objections.
‡‡ Be proactive. Include Epic proficiency as a measurable goal in the Focal Point Review (FPR) process.
‡‡ When communicating with employees, focus on what needs to change (outcomes) instead of how
things will change.
‡‡ Identify barriers and determine ways in which the business may be able to address them.
‡‡ Identify and dispel rumors immediately. It’s important to identify rumors in a way that preserves team
members’ anonymity. Rumors can be collected via email, collection boxes or through FAQ postings.
‡‡ Clearly communicate what the choices and consequences are for each employee. By providing simple, clear
choices along with consequences, you put accountability and control back into the employee’s hands.
‡‡ Show the benefits of Epic in a real and tangible way. Invite members of the Epic project team as guests to
your meetings.
‡‡ Make a personal appeal. Examples include, “I believe in this change,” “I would like your support in making
sure employees practice before Go-Live,” and “It’s important to me that all employees attend training in a
timely manner.”
‡‡ Convert the strongest dissenters. They can become your best supporters once they get on board.
