Annual School report
We have recently completed and uploaded our
Annual School Report. This report provides
information to the school community on the
performance of the school in national testing
programs. The report celebrates the many
achievements and successes the students,
teachers and parents have achieved throughout
the year. It also provides information about the
context in which that information should be
considered. Please find our Annual School Report
(ASR) on the school website in the downloads
section.
School Plan 2015-2017
Our school plan for the next three year cycle has
been developed and designed through a
consultative and collaborative approach to
planning. The students, teachers, parents and the
wider community have been an integral part of
identifying three key strategic directions that have
formed the basis of our current three year planning
cycle. The strategic directions have been designed
to be sufficiently challenging to bring about growth
and transformation. The Department of Education
has chosen the 5P planning model that
incorporates
Purpose,
People,
Processes,
Products and Practices. I would like to thank every
member of the school community who have been
involved in the rigorous and dynamic discussions
involved to date. Please find the ENPS School
Plan 2015-2017 on the school website in the
downloads section.

OC Class
All students in year 4 received a letter yesterday outlining the procedures for application to opportunity class
placement in 2016. Parents seeking opportunity class placement for Year 5 entry in 2016 are required to
submit an application by 15 May 2015. Generally students are in Year 4 in 2015 when applying for Year 5
entry in 2016. Parents of students currently enrolled in a NSW public school should apply for opportunity
class placement online by going to this internet website: www.schools.nsw.edu.au/ocplacement.
Ride2School Day - Friday 1 May 2015
An active school is a healthy school.
Friday 1 May 2015 is the day that Epping North PS has designated for the National Ride2School Day.
National Ride2School Day is about celebrating active travel within the school day and encouraging those who
haven't started to give it a go.
Cross Country
Today our cross country was held in beautiful conditions. I would like to thank Ms McLean and Mrs Diver and
their team for organising the carnival and all the students who participated in the event. Well Done!
ANZAC Day
Thank you to Ms White for her organisation of our very moving ANZAC ceremony last Friday. We are very
lucky that Rev Smith (Retired) from the Australiam Army joins us each year to engage the students on the
importance of ANZAC day.
I would like to thank School Leaders and all students who attended the ANZAC ceremony on behalf of
Epping North PS. ANZAC Day marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and
New Zealand forces during the First World War, this year marks the 100th anniversary of the landing at
Gallipoli. Thank you for representing our school and showing your respect and gratitude.

assess the literacy and numeracy learning of students in all Australian schools. Please note these dates in
your diary. Unless there is sickness, no Yr 3 or Yr 5 child should miss this assessment.

test.
Wednesday 13 May - Reading test

SCHOOL NEWS
Ride To School Day – Friday 1st May, 2015
Ride to School Day is a great opportunity for students and school communities to embrace a healthier
lifestyle and to try walking or riding to school for themselves. Students in kindergarten through to year 6 are
encouraged to either walk or ride safely to school this Friday 1st May to promote a healthy 60 minutes of daily
physical activity.
Your child can either walk to school, or ride a scooter or a bicycle. Please remind your children to Stop, Look,
Listen and Think when approaching an intersection. These vital steps mean STOPPING at an intersection,
LOOKING left, right, then left again to check for oncoming vehicles, LISTENING for the sounds of any
vehicles that may not be in clear vision, and THINKING about the way they should be crossing the road. It is
strongly recommended that students in kindergarten to year 2 walk or ride with an accompanying parent/
guardian.
Upon arrival at the school gate, students should walk their bicycle to the usual bicycle rack area (outside the
school hall) where there will be specific bike-parking areas marked out for each year level.
