Background
• Equitas Care is locally-owned and
operated.
Wiltshire Mews
Our Houses
• Equitas Care has two homes that
have been specially adapted to meet
the needs of disabled persons.
• The Avon Gate home can accommodate four residents and the Wiltshire
Mews home, seven residents. The
Wiltshire Mews home includes a two
bedroom flat to support independent
living/transition to independence.
• All resident rooms at both houses are
individual. Residents are encouraged
to furnish the rooms themselves.
• Each resident has access to a range
of communication, social and recreational equipment e.g. wireless internet
access, phone lines, musical and gym
equipment. Also, each home has a
vehicle to ensure social outings are
accessible for residents.
• The Managing Director, Vicki Corner,
is a Registered Nurse with a wealth of
experience in caring for disabled
people, both professionally and
personally.
• Vicki takes a full-time operational and
strategic role, overseeing the day-today activities of the business.
• A Board of Directors provides
governance for Equitas Care, with
skills in business, nursing, management, finance, quality improvement
and consumer advocacy.

Introduction to Equitas Care
• Equitas Care is a special place for
young people with disabilities.
• Equitas Care homes, based in
Christchurch, provide accommodation
for young people where rehabilitation,
independence and personal goalsetting provide the basis for service
delivery.
• Where residents can not progress to
independent living, Equitas Care
provides a home for life - in a
supportive environment.
• Residents, friends and family/whānau
are recognised at Equitas Care, and
are welcomed as wholeheartedly as
we care for our residents.
• Equitas Care is Certified to provide
Residential Disability Services under
the Health and Disability Services
(Safety) Act 2001.

Vision is...
To provide a home for life - A
supportive home for young disabled
people that facilitates independent
living and meets their social,
emotional, spiritual and
physical needs.
Funding
• Most Equitas Care residents have
been assessed for residential support
services and are funded by ACC.
• Individual residents are also accepted
for temporary spinal injury and respite
care, as well as individual Ministry of
Health (MoH) contracts.
Quality of Care
• Equitas Care is focused on a high
standard of care, and maintains a
rigorous quality improvement
programme.
• Care Assistants are provided with ongoing training and are required to
complete NZQA qualifications.
• Qualified health professionals lead the
care and rehabilitation programmes for
Equitas Care residents.
