Finance Director Conference 2015
The next couple of years look set to bring more uncertainty and
volatility than we have seen for some time. For UK finance directors
charged with monitoring and managing risk, that means staying on
top of geopolitical, trade and financial upheaval is a necessity.
This one-day event is aimed at exploring global uncertainty and providing insight on the
impact it will have for every finance director in every business. You’ll get practical guidance on:
• political change and risk in 2015 and beyond (including the effect of the general election
result, the UK’s role in the EU, wider geo-political risk, and the state of the union);
• technical developments in tax, technology and reporting to ensure your organisation is
built on solid foundations – along with challenging opinions and insights to help drive
innovation;
• technical breakout sessions to address issues for either corporates or SMEs;
• a chaired panel debate on overcoming boardroom conflict – and how to win unavoidable
battles with your CEO;
• technical and commercial insight from industry experts.
Who should
attend?
• Finance Directors
• Financial Controllers
• CFOs
• CEOs
• Heads of Finance
• Finance Managers
• Non executive

• COOs
The conference will include a keynote address from IFS’s Director, Paul Johnson, with

LEADERSHIP PANEL DEBATE: ‘Boardroom Conflicts: The leadership challenge’
A chaired panel debate on overcoming boardroom conflict – and how to win unavoidable battles with your CEO.
The very nature of the role brings FDs into conflict with board colleagues. That might be relatively minor
– arguments over budgets or record-keeping for example. But it can also be severe. How should they react
when that happens? What are their ethical and legal duties? Understanding who to turn to, how to resolve
disagreements and how to find ways of working with people after a fight are essential skills. We’ll be looking
at what can happen and how to cope in a session featuring both management experts and FDs who’ve been
through severe conflicts.
Moderator: Richard Young, Freelance Journalist and Editor
Panellists:
Sarah Hunt, EquityFD
David Richardson, Chairman, Bilfinger Berger Global Infrastructure
Mark Starbuck, Internal Audit, Credit Suisse
Peter Williams, former CFO of Selfridges and Senior Independent Director, ASOS plc
