WARBLER WALK, Fri. May 1, 8-10am, Edison Woods MetroPark, 8111 Smokey Rd. Berlin Heights. As the spring
migration begins we will take a walk through the woods to find warblers and other songbirds! Please bring
binoculars and dress for the weather.
TRAIL TRANSFORMATION, Sat. May 2, 10-11am, Castalia Quarry MetroPark, 8404 SR 101, Castalia. Come see
how a trail transforms throughout the year with a monthly walk on the same trail! Bring a camera to
document the changes.
DOGGIE MEET N GREET, Sat. May 2, 1:30-3:30pm, Osborn MetroPark, Erie MetroBark Park, 3109 Hull Rd.
Huron. Join licensed dog trainer Jessica Castello and learn how to properly introduce your dog to others dogs
and new people. Training will begin at 2pm with free play before and after. All dogs MUST be registered at the
Bark Park prior to classes. Owners can fill out an application online or at the Frost Center. Registration
required. Limit 20. $20 per session with 50% of proceeds donated to a local animal shelter!
TAKE THE KID’S FISHING DERBY, Sun. May 3, 11am – 1pm, Shoreline Park, 411 East Water Street, Sandusky.
Fun fishing day for the whole family! There will be prizes and lunch available for participating youth. Come out
and join us! Co-sponsored by the Sandusky Recreation Department, the Western Basin Sport Fishing
Association, and Erie MetroParks. Ages 5-17. To register, contact Sandusky Recreation Department at 419627-5886.

PARK P.A.L.S. – FISHY FACTS, Mon. May 4, 10:30-11:30am, Osborn MetroPark, Frost Center, Erie Room, 3910
Perkins Ave. Huron. Let’s learn about fish! How do fish breathe? What fish live in Lake Erie? What do they eat?
We will read a story, play some games and make a craft! PARK PALS (PRESCHOOLERS ACTIVELY LEARNING
SCIENCE) is a program designed for ages 3-6 with an accompanying adult. Registration required. Limit 15.
WALK WITH A DOC AND A DOG – KICK OFF! Mon. May 4, 6:30-7:30pm, Osborn MetroPark, Frost Center, 3910
Perkins Ave. Huron. Walk with a Doc is an organization dedicated to encouraging healthy physical activity in
people of all ages. Join a local doctor for a brief health chat followed by a walk every Monday evening! Bring
your dog to get some exercise too! All dogs must be leashed.
GET FIT CLUB - ZUMBA, Tue. May 5, 6-7pm, Osborn MetroPark, Frost Center, Erie Room, 3910 Perkins Ave.
Huron. Dance the winter away with this upbeat workout. Instructor Patricia Cromer from Norwalk’s
Recreation Center, will have you moving and grooving in this 60 minute workout whether you have rhythm or
not. FREE CLASS!

Room, 3910 Perkins Ave. Huron. Anyone can create your own watercolor painting by following step by step
demonstration by watercolor artist and teacher Clela Stelnicki. $60 for a 4 week session or $15 per class.

a basket of recyclable materials from past upcycle workshops to create your own masterpiece. Registration

your fishing gear and meet at the Arboretum welcome center. We will fish in the pond using different baits
and poles. Ages 8-17 of all skill levels. Registration required. Limit 15.

and for baby to discover his natural world. We will read a story and then take a hike in the park. Ages 0-3.

JUST ABOUT HORSES AND DONKEYS—Wed. May 13, 6-7pm, The Barnyard, 3819 Perkins Ave. Huron.
Increase your horse/donkey knowledge and get hands on experience with them. Learn about health, safety,
grooming and more. Participants will get to interact with and brush a horse. Ages 8+. Preregistration required
by May 12. Limit 8.
RAIN BARREL WORKSHOP, Wed. May 13, 5:30 & 6pm, Osborn MetroPark, Shelter 1, 3910 Perkins Ave. Huron.
Rain barrels are a great way to collect FREE rainwater for use in the garden while helping to manage
stormwater which can cause negative impacts on the environment. Did you know a rain barrel will save most
homeowners 1300 gallons of water during peak summer months? A rain barrel is a water collection system
that is connected to a downspout to collect runoff from your roof. Rain barrels are generally made from 55
gal drums and plumbing fittings that can be found at your local hardware store and are easy to
construct. Participants will learn the benefits of rain barrels and make their own to take home. The cost is
$45 and includes all parts and tools. All registrations must be made and paid for in advance of workshop
date. If you would like more information about these workshops or to register call the Erie Soil and Water

EVENING BIKE RIDE, Thu. May 14, 6:30-7:30 pm, DuPont Marsh, 1805 River Rd. Huron. Meet at the DuPont
Marsh parking lot for ride through the country side. This program is for all skill levels, helmets are required.

KID’S NATURE CLUB – BACK TO THE WILD, Sat. May 16, 10am-12pm, Back to the Wild, 4504 Bardshar Rd.
Castalia. Back to the Wild is a non-profit wildlife rehabilitation and nature education center dedicated to
returning injured and orphaned wildlife back into the wild! You will learn about Ohio’s resident wildlife and
see some up close and personal. Registration required. $5 donation per person.
WHO’S WALKING WHO? – DOG TRAINING, Sat. May 16, 1:30-3:30pm, Osborn MetroPark, Erie MetroBark
Park, 3109 Hull Rd. Huron. Join licensed dog trainer Jessica Castello and learn proper leash manners for you
and your furry friend! Training will begin at 2pm with free play before and after. All dogs MUST be registered

TRAIN RIDES, Sat. May 16, 1-3pm, East Sandusky Bay MetroPark, Eagle Point at the Community Foundation
Preserve, 3819 Cleveland Rd. Sandusky. Erie Metro Live Steamers will have miniature steam-powered engines
available to pull passengers through the park! Fun for all! All rides are weather dependent.
SUNDAY MORNING TRAIL RUN, Sun. May 17, 9-10am, Edison Woods MetroPark, 10186 Ceylon RD, Berlin
Heights. Meet at the RT. 61 parking lot for our bimonthly trail run. This program is for all skill levels and selfpaced. Registration appreciated.
PARK P.A.L.S – WILDLIFE BABY SHOWER! Mon. May 18, 10:30am-11:30am, Osborn MetroPark, Frost Center,

ROOT BEER CANOE FLOAT, Fri. May 29, 6-7pm, The Coupling MetroPark, 11618 SR 13, Milan. Meet at the
public canoe launch at the Coupling to kick off the official paddling season with a trip on the Huron River.
Afterwards enjoy a root beer float at the depot. Those who own their own paddle craft are welcome to
attend. Ages 10 and up. Registration Required. Limit 20.
