DOMTAR’S PORT HURON MILL
Known as the “Maritime Capital of the Great Lakes,” the city of Port
Huron stretches for seven miles along the shore of the St. Clair
River and the base of Lake Huron. Its location at the international
border crossing with Point Edward, Ontario has also given the city
the nickname of the Gateway to Canada. Incorporated in 1857, the
City of Port Huron began as an early shipbuilding and lumber trade
town and continues to host a diverse economic base today.
The Basics:
• The Domtar Port Huron Mill is located in Port Huron, MI and is one of
Domtar’s 13 pulp and paper mills in North America.
• The mill has four paper machines, with an annual paper production
capacity of 114,000 tons.
• The Port Huron Mill produces lightweight papers, specialty papers and
packaging.

In 2013, the Port Huron Mill contributed $6,000 in grassroots
giving to the local community.

The Port Huron Mill is currently beneficially using more than
80% of its solid waste as a solidify agent and in manufacturing
compost, which is significantly better than the industry
average.
