INTERNSHIP PROJECT (6-12 months) GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAIN QUALITY/ CHANGE CONTROL PROCESS IMPROVEMENT At Biogen, we are working every day to become the world’s best science-driven biotechnology company. Global Supply Chain Quality (SCQ) ensures the availability of safe and effective medicines that meet or exceed patient requirements worldwide. SCQ collaborates internally at Biogen Idec and also serves as a direct liaison with our external manufacturing partners to ensure an uninterrupted supply chain, while maintaining a commitment to quality and safety. SCQ is also responsible for activities such as transferring and validating processes to third party manufacturers, managing the performances of these manufacturers, assuring product life cycle management and other changes are managed in a safe way and according to regulations, investigating manufacturing discrepancies, performing batch review, and release of product. Additionally, we are responsible for management of the Quality System implemented at the Zug site, as well as leading process improvements of these systems, and ensuring compliance with local regulations. PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES: You will have the opportunity to learn about change management, which is an integral function of the biotech world for ensuring compliance and patient safety. You will gain hands-on experience using quality systems commonly used in the industry. The goal of the project consists in mapping, diagnosing and improving the change control processes, as well as its interfaces with internal and external partners. Benchmark with other organizations should be performed. Opportunities for simplification or improvement of robustness and compliance (with regulations and internal objectives and rules) will be identified. The most significant improvements identified in the course of the project will be implemented. YOUR PROFILE: Students or recent graduates within the field of Engineering, Pharma, Biotechnology (preferred); or related faculties Understanding of pharmaceutical regulations is an advantage Basic knowledge of lean / 6 sigma principles is an advantage Candidate should be able to identify, understand and analyze complex supplier/customer interdependencies Strong attention to detail Good communication skills Highly motivated, able to work independently as well as part of a team Fluent English (written and spoken) is a must
