Mediation: Alternative Dispute Resolution Certificate Course This intensive course is designed to train and qualify students to develop or participate in conflict mediation processes. Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation) is geared for all professionals who are focused on “interest-based bargaining.” This course takes the mystery out of settlement processes and focuses on reaching reasonable solutions through both traditional and non-traditional options. Andonian is the Museum Educator at the Los Alamos Historical Society. He has worked at various historic sites across the country, including the El Camino Real in New Mexico. He holds a B.A. in History and is completing his M.A. in History at the University of New Mexico, where his concentrations are on the U.S. West and Latin America. Raffi also holds two graduate degrees from the University of Georgia. Cynthia Bell-Santos Cynthia Ann Bell dos Santos holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration, a M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, and a B.A. in Education. She has been a teacher, principal, coordinator, and university professor. Most recently she taught English and cultural awareness to future teachers and translators, translated (Portuguese-English), and revised and edited texts at the University of Brasília. Jim Caffrey Jim Caffrey is a professional photographer who has taught digital photography at community colleges in the area for many years. He also works as a photo tour guide. Based in Jemez Springs, New Mexico for the past thirty-five years, he spends much of his time exploring and photographing the hidden and unique landscapes that the Land of Enchantment offers. CamNet CamNet is a technology company with a strong track record of building effective support for educational institutions and schools. Their staff includes licensed educators with technical expertise, allowing them to provide optimum training in technology for effective student learning and classroom experiences. Sequoia Edwards Sequoia Edwards earned her BFA in ceramics and has studied, practiced and taught art for over twenty years. Diane Garrett-Smith Diane was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and began to make art about the time she began to walk. She has shown in numerous large juried shows and her work has been displayed in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. Diane currently teaches art at UNM-Los Alamos and juries exhibitions at the Fuller Lodge Art Center in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Robert Geoffrion Robert Geoffrion has over thirty years of experience teaching Tae Kwon Do. Hans-Peder Hanson Hans-Peder Hanson earned his doctorate in Classics from the University of Washington in 2009. He teaches ancient Greek, Latin, and a variety of other Classics courses at UNM-LA. Christine Hazard Christine Hazard, Ph.D. has been serving as a district psychologist with the Los Alamos Public Schools for the past 19 years and as team leader for the district’s ASD Resource Team for 10 years. In that capacity, she provides assessment, program planning, staff and parent training, and clinical services to students on the autism spectrum. A self-taught artist, her initial images were inspired by cave and rock art made by native peoples all over the world. Her current work reflects her passion for water in lush inner dreamscapes done in soft greys, blues and greens. Gary Mazaroff Gary Mazaroff holds a Masters degree from UNM with a focus on sports and health. He is a member of the US and International Racquetball Hall of Fame and Director of Education for the International Racquetball Federation. Mazaroff has promoted the sport of racquetball in over 30 nations. Institute for Professional Development The Institute for Professional Development of the UNM Department of Education advocates for professional development models for educators that will give them the knowledge, skills and identities to strengthen and support the learning of all students in New Mexico. The Institute engages in projects that create and sustain a statewide network of resources for effective professional development of educators in K-12 settings. Rourke McDermott Rourke McDermott has performed numerous workshops and lecture demonstrations of primitive wilderness skills to youth and adults, including those given at Valles Caldera National Preserve, Walatowa Visitor Center at the Jemez Pueblo, Jemez Valley Public Schools, and PEEC. McDermott’s bachelors work is in landscape architecture and he is currently employed in this capacity at Valles Caldera Natural Preserve. Siri KhalsA Siri Khalsa has taught yoga for UNM-Los Alamos Community Education for many years. Nicole Kliebert Nicole Kliebert has a masters degree in communication and teaches media studies to teens in Los Alamos. Mary Lutes Mary Lutes, owner of Blue Sky Pilates, began studying the Pilates Method 10 years ago to help alleviate chronic pain. Her love for the work led her to complete the teaching certification program and she is now certified in Pilates Mat and Refomer. Lutes currently teaches group classes and private sessions and has provided Pilates training to the Los Alamos High School Golf Team and the Pajarito Free Ride snowboard and ski team. Rosemary Maestas Rosemary Maestas is currently an adjunt professor of business administration and data coordinator at Northern New Mexico College. She has an MBA from the College of Santa Fe and has taught business and computer classes for over 13 years. Renae Mitchell Renae Mitchell holds a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Penn State University with a minor in Latin American Studies. In addition to teaching language classes, she has taught courses in non-western literature and myth and has earned several certificates and awards during her career. Peter Murphy Peter Murphy is a retirement and estate planning specialist. He currently teaches throughout Santa Fe and Los Alamos. A military veteran and Commanding Officer, Murphy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wesleyan University and a Masters of Science Degree from National Defense University in Washington DC. Aimee Slaughter Instructor Aimee Slaughter is completing her Ph.D. in the History of Science, Technology, and Medicine Program at the University of Minnesota. She also holds a Master’s in physics and works with the Los Alamos Historical Society. Dale Wenberg Dale Wenberg has been teaching T’ai-Chi Ch’uan for UNM-Los Alamos since the spring of 2008. He trained with Grand Master Cheng, reaching Black Belt status in Northern Shao-Lin Kung-Fu in 1983. He has also received training in Praying Mantis and Hsing-I.
