Throwback Fest: Snacks, field games, inflatable race course and cinematic showing of Toy Story will remind you of the good ole days. 3-8pm HCC Dear White People Film Screening and Discussion: A social satire that follows the stories of four black students at an Ivy League college. This film explores racial identity in acutely-not-post-racial America. 6-9pm Recital Hall in the Communications Building $1.00 dollar donation requested at the door. Friday 10 8pm Meet outside of the Housing Community Center (HCC) Comedian Aamer Rahman: Aamer Rahman is an Australian stand-up comedian of Bangladeshi descent. Formerly one half of the award-winning cult comedy duo, Fear of a Brown Planet, Aamer Rahman is concerned with politics, racism, the War on Terror and Batman. Evergreen students can pick up a free ticket with your student ID at the Greener Store. 7-9pm Longhouse Cultural Arts Center Community members must pay $5 and can also purchase tickets at the Greener Store. WEEK 3: Thursday 16 Wednesday 22 Comedian Cameron Esposito: Called “the future of comedy” by none other than Jay Leno, Cameron Esposito is a fast rising Los Angeles-based standup comic, actor and writer. Presented by Generation Friends Comedy group. Free! 7pm Lecture Hall 1 Real Food Commitment Presidential Signing Ceremony - with Keynote Speech by Climate Change Activists ‘Yes Men’: The ceremonious signing of the Real Food Challenge Commitment to 28% ‘real food’ purchasing by 2020 by Evergreen President Les Purce. 5pm-8pm Longhouse Rachel Carson Forum: An annual Spring event dedicated to Rachel Carson’s legacy of exploration and understanding of complex environmental issues and questions. 5:30-9:30pm Longhouse Dr. Cornel West Speaks: Cornel West is a prominent and provocative democratic intellectual. In short, Cornel West has a passion to communicate to a vast variety of publics in order to keep alive the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. – a legacy of telling the truth and bearing witness to love and justice.
