General Regulations
The Exmoor Beauty is not a race it is a cyclo-sportive ride and the Highway Code must be
obeyed at all times. The main consideration is to use common sense throughout the ride.
Also ensure you take note of the following points:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
It is strongly recommended that all riders were a hard shell helmet, to approved
national standards, at all times during the event.
Riders should ride within their own capabilities at all times. The event is only timed to
show your achievement and give targets for future editions.
Ensure you wear the correct clothing for the weather conditions on the day. The
weather on the moors can be very changeable and both cold and wet or mild and dry
periods can be encountered. Poor visibility, due to low mist, can also be a problem
on the high moor and all riders are encouraged to fit a rear light and/or reflector.
Wearing reflective items should also be a consideration.
Ensure your bike is in a totally roadworthy and safe condition. Mechanics will be on
hand at the start and around the course, where their main role is to deal with major
mechanical problems. It is not possible for them to be everywhere at once, so please
ensure you carry tools and spares to deal with minor problems, such as punctures
and adjustments.
The Mechanics are on the course as a favour to the event. They will carry
certain spares but please understand the spares should be paid for, it is not
the events fault if you come ill prepared.
Please communicate any problems along the route or details of riders in need of
assistance to the emergency number.
The course will be well signed, but the onus of staying on course is the responsibility
of the individual rider. Study the route before you leave. We will have no Marshalls.
