Cache County Youth Counselor Information -Summer 2015- What is a 4-H Aggie Adventures Youth Counselor? Utah State University Extension and Utah 4-H is seeking youth between the ages of 14-17 to volunteer as camp counselors for children’s educational summer camps. Camps are week long day camps held on the Utah State University campus. They emphasize hands-on learning, and explore a variety of different themes including archeology, robotics, history, paleontology, art, physics and chemistry, astronomy, and engineering. Why Become a Youth Counselor? Volunteer service is helpful to have when you’re applying for scholarships, putting together a portfolio and building a resume. Volunteer service with 4-H Aggie Adventures gives you valuable teaching and leadership experience and also offers great incentives. Upon completion of at least 40 volunteer hours (two camps and counselor training) you will receive a Life Skill Incentive of your choice such as a ski pass, guitar lessons, horseback riding lessons, digital camera, or another incentive of your choosing. What Does a Youth Counselor Do? As a counselor, you would be helping out with many aspects of the summer camps including assisting campers with their projects, answering questions, playing games, supervising campers at check-in and checkout, and teaching and presenting lessons.
