5th Sunday in Lent
March 22, 2015
Our Mission: “We are called to bring God’s love to all the world,
and to nurture God’s people in their spiritual journeys.”
Welcome to our worship service today!
FUMC is a Reconciling Congregation where all persons of any age,
gender, gender identity, race, ethnic origin, economic reality, family
status, sexual orientation, diverse ability or social status are welcome
without reservation to share in God’s love.
We are always delighted to have visitors seeking fellowship in our
Christian community. We invite you to journey with us in ministry and
mission. You may indicate your desire to join us on the Ritual of
Friendship or by contacting the pastor. Stop by our welcome table in the
narthex for further information and stop in the parlor for a cup of coffee
between services!
Persons with some difficulties hearing, but who do not wear hearing aids,
can find receiver/earbuds on the table in the narthex. Feel free to bring
your own earbuds!
Next Sunday we will receive the One Great Hour of Sharing offering,
which lays the foundation of all of the denomination’s relief work.
Sunday School – Palm Sunday (March 29) Children will start in
worship at 9:00 and 10:30am then go to Sunday School after the
children’s message.
Service Opportunities
Readers needed for Good Friday evening Service of Tenebrae
(darkness); please see Margaret as soon as possible.
Ushers are needed at our 9:00am Worship Services. The usher teams
are vital to the safety and security of our Church family, and we currently
have many open slots to fill. All are welcome to help. We will provide
simple "on the job training." The commitment is minimal, approximately
1
five (5) times per year. Please contact either Loren Romagnola,
[email protected], 223-3004 or Lex Sleeman
[email protected]. Thanks for your consideration!
BTW (Beyond These Walls) – for March, we are requesting infant
needs (new or gently-used blankets and clothing, diapers, pacifiers, and
formula). You can drop off your donations in or near the designated bins
in the parlor. Donation slips are available. Join us on one of our shelter
visits; sign up on the Outreach bulletin board. Kathryn Pridey & Sue
Golembeski
Fellowship Opportunities
Book Club will meet Monday, March 23 at 7:00pm in the parlor, to
discuss "Defending Jacob."
Simple Suppers each Wednesday in Lent, 6-7 pm in Fellowship Hall.
Come and join in the discussion about our church, who we are and why
we’re here! Everyone has a seat at the table!
Deborah Circle will meet Wednesday, March 25 at 1:00pm in the parlor
for a program on Human Trafficking by Gale Fisher-Huber.
A 2nd COFFEE HOUR will be offered the 2nd Sunday of every month
after 2nd service! This fantastic idea came from two of our young couples
who are looking for a way to get to know more of us!!! Feel free to
bring a small dessert or a beverage.
Learning Opportunities
Our Living the Questions small group’s video discussion series, “Saving
Jesus”, is open to all, on Tuesdays at 4:00pm.

Service Music Texts
Lord, Be Glorified – see hymn no. 2150, vs. 1
Create in Me a Clean Heart, O God
Create in me a clean heart, O God;
And renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence;
And take not thy holy spirit from me.
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation;
And uphold me with thy free spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways;
And sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Create in me a clean heart, O God!

RESPONDING TO GOD
Time of Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer (trespasses)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy
kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we
forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
