Summer Program 2015

Summer Program 2015:
This summer, children (5-12 years) can enjoy and experience weeks of
summer fun, creativity and explore the environment at Family Flex and
around the Denver Metro area. Join us this summer as we unplug and
connect our youth to nature through joyful, hands-on, play-based
environmental education. Our mission is to empower the students to learn
about healthy lifestyles, educating them on nutritious foods, where food is
sourced locally and sustainably, and teaching them to grow their own
food in our garden. Hands on programs such as Growing Gardens in Boulder and The Growhaus in Denver will
work together with Family Flex in our summer philosophy instilling environmental ideologies. The students will
learn the lifecycle of a plant, build a compost, find out firsthand the importance of farming, bees, butterflies,
cultivate their own food in a garden, swim, climb at ABC kids climbing gymnasium, calculate our own carbon
footprint, hear a guest speaker on clean energy, discover the vast trails of the Front Range, all while we explore
and learn more from the environment and the natural world around us!
Students will continue to learn all summer long about the world we live in through art activities and
documenting their experiences through writing/drawing in journals, participating in the Denver Public Library
summer reading program, and exploring the earth in weekly projects! Learning is additionally enhanced with
daily field trips around the city. Swimming two days each week is a camp favorite!
