Event Gift Bag Assembly and Final Event Preparations Description: In the days leading up to a big event there is a lot of prep work that happens. Come support the FareStart team raise funds for programs. . Assemble gift bags for our VIPs at the event. Food provided! Please come help us load up the van for the event. Food provided! Student/Staff Lunchroom Detail Description: Our student/staff lunchroom is a great example of the FareStart community– staff, students, and graduates come to the lunchroom to eat together every day. We strive to keep the space as friendly and inviting as possible and would love your support to give our lunchroom a facelift! We need groups to help with deep cleaning and painting projects. Your group will help make a big impact in the everyday lives of FareStart students and staff! Dates/Times: June 11th - Lunchroom Deep Cleaning (Evening availability) Min-Max Volunteers: Groups between 5-20 people Student Drive Description: Please help us by organizing a drive for our students. Since students are not earning money while in our program we provide them with anything they need during the program. This includes non slip shoes for the kitchen, interview clothes, backpacks., toiletries as will as $25 gift cards for transportation (ORCA and gas), haircuts (Great Clips) and stores for general merchandise (Bartell Drugs, Fred Meyer, Old Navy, Ross Dress for Less, Safeway, Target, Walgreens, Walmart ). Dates/Times: Open to your groups availability Gala Auction Description: Join the FareStart community for a grand evening at our 23rd annual Great Food, Better Lives Gala Auction! The evening’s festivities will include a silent auction reception, wine auction, an elegant multi-course gourmet dinner, live auction, entertainment—and more!—all taking place with the backdrop of Seattle’s sparkling skyline. Café @ 2100 Detail Description: Our Café @ 2100 building is a vital part of our training for the Youth Barista Training and Education Program, a collaborative effort between YouthCare and FareStart. The café is the site for on-the-job training for our youth students. Your group will help detail the cafe to help us put our best foot forward with customers! Dates/Times: Open to your groups availability. Weekends and Fridays after 4 p.m. Next available date– August 2015 Min-Max Volunteers: Groups between 5-20 people Restaurant Detail Description: Our Restaurant is a vital part of our training program. Students work in the restaurant during phase 2 and 3 of the program which provides them additional hands on training. Help keep our Restaurant looking its best! Your group will help detail the restaurant to help us put our best foot forward with customers. Dates/Times: Open to your groups availability. Weekends, afternoons and evenings (not Thursday’s) Next available date– August 2015 Min-Max Volunteers: Groups between 5-20 people Kitchen Prep Description: Help our staff chef instructors and students prepare shelter meals in the FareStart kitchen. No experience required, but you will learn more than you thought possible about cutting food of all sorts! A great opportunity for hands-on volunteer work. Dates/Times: Saturday, Sunday and Holidays from 10am to 3pm Min-Max Volunteers: Individuals or groups up to 10 people FARESTART: Make a Difference FARESTART: Join with Us! Community Dinner Description: Every 1st Wednesday of the month we host a free dinner for the FareStart community (students, graduates, volunteers and donors). Come support this important event by helping set up, bussing tables, checking in guests and running the raffle. Groups are asked to bring 5 or so small items for the student/graduate raffle. Examples include: $5 to $50 gift cards, local sporting team gear, tickets to cultural and sporting events, etc. Dates/Times: 1st Wednesday of the month from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Min-Max Volunteers: Groups of 6 to 10 people Guest Chef Night — Not Currently Available Description: Serve dinner to our Thursday night Guest Chef Night patrons so that all tips and gratuities can benefit FareStart programs. No experience necessary. This is our most popular opportunity and is consistently booked a year in advance. Dates/Times: Thursday afternoon/evenings, 5 hours Volunteer Groups: Individuals (requires a once-a-month commitment) or groups of 9 people (must bring two diners per volunteer) Student/Community Kits — Not Currently Available Description: Purchase and donate items and then compile kits for our students as they work hard to complete the program and find employment. List of items provided and special lists provided during the holiday season. Dates/Times: On-going opportunity, 1-3 hours is usual Min-Max Volunteers: Groups between 3 and 20 people Student Supply Inventory— Not Currently Available Description: Since students are not earning money while in our program we provide them with anything they need during the program. This includes non slip shoes for the kitchen, interview clothes, backpacks., toiletries and many other things. We need help to organize and inventory the supplies we have available.
