St. Patrick's Day History
St. Patrick was the patron saint and national
apostle of Ireland who is credited with bringing
Christianity to Ireland. Long before the shamrock
became associated with St. Patrick’s Day (March 17), the fourleaf clover was regarded by ancient Celts as a charm against evil
spirits. In the early 1900s, O. H. Benson, an Iowa school superintendent, came up with the idea of using a clover as the emblem

The mission of Baltimore County Fleming Senior Center is to
develop activities and administer programs that maintain the
integrity of the unique histories and cultures of our community.
These programs and activities will support Baltimore County
Senior Citizens in their efforts to remain healthy, active and
independent members of the community. The primary focus of
the Fleming Senior Center is to provide, coordinate and
advocate for services which will ensure the highest quality of life
for both active and health impaired seniors, their families and
caregivers.
