Eighty-seven percent approved this next step of research. Further steps of buying or selling property will be presented to the congregation. Our Board Moderator Amy Hendrick has appointed leaders for three task forces: • The Launching team, led by Cal Hendrick, is researching the logistics of selling our current facilities. • The Landing team, led by Steve Barron, is researching options for temporary and permanent locations to house our ministry. The Mission team, led by Penny Boss, will continue to hone our mission and ministry strategy as a community of faith so we are ready to draw new people into relationship with Christ. If you are interested in serving on one of these teams, please let Amy know by emailing her at [email protected] or call her at 6382956. That's a good thing. We all need time to sit in a hammock and sip some lemonade! But this summer our church is buzzing to keep up with the Holy Spirit who is at work among us. This summer we have studied our mission: Love One Another, Make Disciples, Serve Those in Need. This summer we are following our vision to send people through our church to impact the community of Odessa with Christ's love, touching 10 times more lives than the number of people who worship with us. Can you help me name some of the ways we are impacting the Odessa community this summer? We have just served about 100 children, not to mention the staff, of our neighborhood's Boys and Girls Club by offering a Vacation Bible School at their campus. We have served a Sunday night family meal to all the residents of the Crisis Center. We have served dozens of our elderly neighbors through our weekly Tuesday Meals on Wheels deliveries. We will be blessing hundreds of passersby with free snow cones from our front lawn at the 4th of July celebration in downtown Odessa. We are welcoming community members at our Bible studies at Homemade Wines and Cork and Pig Tavern. We are also blessing those beyond this community, as we sent cards and prayers for the Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, S.C. Look out! And look outwardly, for God is transforming the world through us, and transforming us through the world who needs us. It is a privilege to follow the Spirit's leading with you! Pastor Dawn Starting this July, we are Frozen in Summer. Our sermons and worship theme will lift up the joy of music as we explore themes that arise from the Oscar-winning music of the movie FROZEN. We will reflect on the songs of the Psalms, as we hear the music of Frozen, and as we hear God calling us to imagine possibilities, seek out community, let go of our gifts, and witness the difference love can make. July 12 Ps 150:1-6 The song "In Summer” encourages us to imagine life’s possibilities. July 19 Ps 92:1-5, 12-15 The song “For the First Time in Forever” demonstrates how we desire community. July 26 Ps 28:1-6 The song “Let It Go” encourages us to let go of what holds us back from our potential. July 2 Ps 84:1-7 The song "Fixer Upper” proclaims that love can make a difference.
