Jim Crotty 051-832787/086-8317711 email:[email protected] World Communications Day The 49th World Communications Day is celebrated today Sunday 17 May 2015 – the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord and the Sunday before Pentecost. The World Day for Social Communications was the only worldwide celebration called for by the Second Vatican Council (Inter Mirifica, 1963). The theme that Pope Francis has chosen for World Communications Day this year is: ‘Communicating the Family: A Privileged Place of Encounter with the Gift of Love’. Ossory Lourdes Pilgrimage 2015 On Friday May 22nd our Ossory Pilgrimage leaves for Lourdes. Fifty young people from different schools in the Diocese will travel including two from the Abbey Community College here in Ferrybank. All will be included in our prayers, Masses and the lighting of the Diocesan candle while in Lourdes. If you would like to have a petition brought please place it in a sealed envelope, marked “Petitions for Lourdes” and place it in the box marked ‘Petitions’ which the two young people from the Abbey have left on the table at the back of the Church, before Thursday May 21st. The petitions will be brought and left at Our Lady’s Shrine in Lourdes. Please do not put any money in the envelope! Waterford & Lismore Annual Diocesan May Procession The Waterford & Lismore Annual Diocesan May Rosary Procession will take place on Sunday the 24th May at 3pm leaving Ballybricken Green to the Dominican Church, Bridge Street where the Crowning of Our Lady will take place. All are very welcome to attend especially those children who have received their First Holy Communion.
