Excellence in Talent Management seminar

21st & 22nd October 2015, Brussels
9th Annual
Excellence in Talent Management
Using TM to align HR with Business Goals
seminar
Part of the 2nd HRcoreACADEMY
FOREWORD
Most organisations are facing comparable issues in the area of people management.
The following four themes will be high on
the list:
1. Succession- and Talent Management
2. Leadership alignment
3. Performance Management
4. Strengthening the (global) connections
In most surveys where CEO's and CHRO's are asked about their current priorities,
Talent Management tops the list. Unfortunately, if the capabilities of HR teams are
assessed, TM capabilities are most often not rated as the strongest ones.
Earlier this year Laszlo Bock, the senior VP of People Operations (not HR!) at Google,
published a very inspiring book: `Work Rules!´ This book contains many important
lessons for the HR community.
Lesson 1: at Google good people management is not rocket science; it is very
important to base your actions on facts and scientific insights, and not on your
gut feeling (Chapter 5 is nicely called "Don't trust your gut!").
Lesson 2: focus relentlessly on improving the quality of your Talent Acquisition.
It ’s a great time for people in HR and TM. Big data creates enormous
opportunities to increase the speed and quality of HR/ Talent analytics. In the 9th
Excellence in TM seminar you will have the opportunity to learn from colleagues,
academics and service providers. The goal is not to provide the ultimate solution
to good TM, but to inspire you to use the opportunities in the best possible
way to increase the impact of TM in
your organisation.
This seminar will be held at the
same time as the
L&D 3.0 seminar (click to view).

“The heart and soul of the company is creativity and innovation”
Bob Iger, CEO, The Walt Disney Company
Business success nowadays resides in the ability to
lead creatively and innovate. Unlocking creative potential is key to
economic growth, yet very few CEOs say their company is good at it.
Most people in business think creativity is a mysterious talent
reserved for the select few.

Ÿ
What are the key corporate talent issues that need to
be addressed?
2.
Key Trend 1: HR Analytics to increase business impact:
A big multinational company will go through their journey using
talent analytics to improve selection and career development.
It will be an open dialogue, where you will learn more about how to
use HR/ talent analytics in a meaningful way.
Elements: connecting talent analytics to the talent strategy, vendor
selection and data-visualisation and the talent analytics learning curve.
Networking Dinner at the famous 'Aux Armes de Bruxelles'
The opportunities Technology creates for Talent Management.
Together we will create a comprehensive overview of the various
ways in which technology can enhance TM and the current
technology landscape. In recruitment, selection, assessment ,
onboarding, coaching, learning and performance management.
2.
Key Trend 3: Learning 3.0
Case-study by Nicole Mills, Global Head of L&D, Sonos
Nicole will review the way Sonos innovated learning in the last years.
Sonos is a fast growing company, where the traditional HR approach
is too slow.
Speed, being appealing to Gen Y and combining learning and
working were some of the drivers.
3.
Key Trend 4: Change & Agile Working
In most organizations implementing innovations in HR and talent
management is not easy.
Participants will review effective change management approaches.
Agile working has been proven as an effective approach.
Scrum will be practiced, as an example of an agile methodology.
4.
Stakeholder Management
Stakeholder management is an important element of change
management. The talent pool, senior management, the global HR
team and the supervisory board can all be important stakeholders.
What are they looking for? What are the issues you are facing, and
how can you deal with those?
An interactive group session.
5.
What will our next steps be?
What will I do back at the office?
Generally talent management is not short of ideas.
Key question: what are the priorities in my business, and what can I
use from what I learned at the HRcoreACADEMY and the
post-event Masterclass? How do we stay connected?
The HR Academy Masterclass group 2015 will be the
starting point of an international talent management community.
