DISTRICT FIVE PROJECT OVERVIEW
Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise continues to make significant project investments in District Five. In fiscal years 2014
and 2015, current Turnpike projects total over $330 million within Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and
Sumter Counties.
Summary of Major Project Funding by Project Type:
The table below summarizes the funding programmed for the major Turnpike projects in the Tentative Five-Year Work
Program (FY 2015/2016 through FY 2019/2020) that are located in District Five. The project descriptions below this
section identify and describe the major projects by county. The following phase abbreviations are used in the project
tables:

This project widens a three-mile segment of the Beachline Expressway/SR 528 from I-95 (MP 42) to Industry

(MP 254) – FPN: 411406-1,-2
This project widens a five-mile segment of the Turnpike/SR 91 from the Osceola County Line (MP 249.3) to the
Beachline Expressway/SR 528 (MP 254) from four to eight travel lanes, including express lanes in both directions.
This project also includes pavement milling and resurfacing and right-of-way costs. The three ramps at the
Turnpike/SR 417 system-to-system interchange are also included in this project.

Regional Projects (continued):
Implement All-Electronic Tolling (AET) Phase 8 on the Turnpike/SR 91 – FPN: 431737-1
This project will implement Phase 8 of an overall program to convert portions of the Turnpike System into a cashless,
all-electronic toll collection system. The project limits of AET Phase 8 begin at the Lantana Toll Plaza on the
Turnpike/SR 91 in Palm Beach County, and extend 148 miles north through Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and
Okeechobee Counties, to the Three Lakes Toll Plaza on the Turnpike/SR 91 in Osceola County. The Phase 8 AET
conversion project includes the removal and replacement of 30 ramp toll plazas and two mainline toll plazas.
