SPECIFIC CONDITIONS
1. The Championship
a) The Championship shall be open to female amateur golfers of all nationalities.
b) It shall be played over 54 holes. 18 holes on day one and day two with the top 50 and ties playing 18 holes on day
three.
c) The Winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest score over the 54 holes. In the event of a tie, there
will be a hole by hole play-off over holes to be decided by the Championship Committee.
d) A maximum of 144 competitors shall play in the Championship.
2. Entry Qualifications
a) Entries will only be accepted from players whose handicaps do not exceed 6.4 under the CONGU Unified
Handicapping System or overseas equivalent.
b) Entrants holding both a CONGU and an overseas handicap must enter this Championship using their CONGU
handicap.
c) Failure to enter in accordance with this condition will result in entry being denied.
3. Exemptions
The Championship Committee of the GUW reserves the right to grant up to 6 invitations into this event for players
eligible for Welsh representation.
4. Home Nations Team Event
For the Team Award, a country may nominate up to two teams of two or three players, the two lowest scores in each
of the three rounds to count. Ties will be decided by card count back using the aggregate of the lowest two 18 hole
third round scores. If still a tie, the aggregate score for the second 9 holes, (or the last 6, 3 or 1 hole(s)) of those two
third round scores will be used. If still a tie the award will be shared. Team nominations must be submitted on the
official entry form signed by an official of the players’ National Organisations, and must reach the Golf Union of Wales
not later than the date shown on the entry form. Should one or more of the nominated players be incapacitated by
illness, accident or other unavoidable occurrence, the nominated reserve, or reserves, may be substituted in order of
selection.
5. Winner & Prizes
a) The Winner of the Championship will be the Welsh Ladies’ Open Amateur Stroke Play Champion for the year. She
will be awarded the Dragon Salver, a prize voucher and a memento.
b) The Runner Up will be awarded the Nicholls Salver for one year and receive a prize voucher and a memento.
c) The following additional prizes will be awarded:

iii. The Jill Edwards Under 21 Trophy will be awarded along with a memento to the player returning the lowest
score over
54 holes who is under 21 years of age on the last day of the Championship. In the event of the
Winner of this trophy also winning a major prize, she may take both.

iv. The Winners of each individual round, but excluding anyone who wins the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6
award, will receive a voucher.
v. The Team Award Trophy will be awarded to the Country returning the lowest aggregate score over three
rounds. Each member of the team will receive a memento.
