Home/School Partnership Parents and School working together to ensure student success


When parents, as partners, support the
implementation of Board/School policies, we act as role models for our students, our school becomes a place
where respect for student safety and
well-being is the number one priority,
and we affirm our commitment to the
Board’s Mission and Vision by our
words and actions.
Parents/Guardians play an important
role in the education of their children,
and can support the efforts of school
staff in maintaining a healthy, safe and
respectful learning environment for all
students. As Parents/Guardians you
fulfill your role when you:
 Show an active interest in your
child’s school work and progress.
 Communicate regularly with the
school.
The use of information and
communication technologies,
such as e-mail, cell phones and
pager text messages, instant
messaging, personal websites
and on-line personal polling
websites, to support deliberate,
repeated and hostile behaviour
by an individual or group, that
is intended to harm or threaten
others, or where the individual
should know that it could harm
or threaten others.


The York Catholic District School
Board believes that safe, caring and
inclusive schools and school communities are fundamental for creating and
maintaining healthy learning and working environments.
Congratulations

McKay Art Gallery Vibrates with Student Artwork
Congratulations to our grade 12 Visual Arts and Photography students for another eclectic display of their talents
It is always wonderful to walk into the McKay Art Gallery
to experience the hardwork, dedication and artistic talents
of our gr. 12 Visual Arts and Photography students. As in
past, the pieces were eclectic and covered a wide range
of media.
While the space itself is not a large one, the intimacy of
the gallery along with the vibrancy of our students’ work
really impacts your senses as you walk through the gallery, chatting with the students who are clearly very proud
that their work is on display in the local community.
Many thanks to the Gr. 12 Visual Arts and Photography
students for sharing their work with us. Ms. Ubelarte for
co-ordinating, Ms. Zawadska for her work with the photography students and to the rest of the Arts Department,
who all volunteered to take a shift curating the space so
that parents, friends and passersby could visit the gallery
and experience the outstanding work of our students.

This piece by artist Timothy P. Schmalz, entitled “Whatsoever you do,” was blessed at our
Advent Mass and installed permanently in the
atrium. Inspired by the Gospel of Matthew
25:40, this sculpture is a visual representation
of charity. We should see Christ in the poor and
the hungry. We should see our acts of kindness
to them as kindness to Him. This piece serves
as a daily reminder and companion to the statue of Father Michael McGivney, who worked in
the service of others.
Counsellors will visit homerooms to collect the Course Selection sheet with the
$100 Activity Fee. It is important students meet deadlines.
Students are encouraged to make appointments to see their Counsellors to
examine their post secondary options.
Students will be receiving their Verification sheets in early April. At this time
them will be able to make changes.
