BLESSINGS FROM BARNHARDT 24 East in Stewartsville, VA Volume XXXV Issue 2 February 1, 2015 A Note From The Pastor “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave Himself for it; that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the Word.” Eph. 5:25-26 What is love? Men and women have written about it but no one can fully explain it. Love must be shown. Love must be expressed. It must be nurtured and regularly assured. This is the time of the year when love can be expressed in so many different ways. To a dating couple, note this very wise response: Girl: “Do you love me?” Boy: “Yes, Dear.” Girl: “Would you die for me?” Boy: “No...mine is an undying love.” From a child’s standpoint, we see this insight: Some children were asked, “What is love?” One little girl answered, “Love is when mommy reads you a bedtime story. True love is when she doesn’t skip any pages.” Love is an attitude - Love is a prayer. For a soul in sorrow, a heart in despair. Love is good wishes for the gain of another, Love suffers long with the fault of a brother. Love gives water to a cup that is dry. Love reaches low, as it can reach high. Seeks not her own at the expense of another, Love reaches God when it reaches our brother. But what is missing here? It is the greatest miracle of all. It is God’s love for us! It is also a mystery expressed in the following statement: Isn’t it odd..that a being like God… Who sees the facade...still loves the clod He made out of sod? Now isn’t that odd? “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Now, that’s the greatest love of all! Bill Gaither expressed it so well in an old song: He left the splendor of heaven, knowing His destiny; T’was a lonely hill called Golgotha There He laid down His life for me… If that isn’t love, the ocean is dry There’s no stars in the sky, And the sparrow can’t fly, If that isn’t love then heaven’s a myth; There’s no feeling like this If that isn’t love. As we express our love to one another, let’s remember God’s love and share it with others. JKP Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God, and every one that loveth is born of God and knows God. 1 John 4:7 BARNHARDT BAPTIST CHURCH SECOND ANNUAL VALENTINE’S BANQUET WHEN: SAT., FEBRUARY 14, 2015 TIME: 4:30 PM CATERED BY: BETTY GROSS, ET AL APPETIZERS ENTRÉE: PORK CHOPS & BAKED CHICKEN SALAD VEGETABLES: GREEN BEANS, BAKED POTATOES DRINKS: TEA, COFFEE, WATER DESSERT: CHEESE CAKE, OUR OWN BETTY CROCKER CAKE PRICE: $12.00 EACH PLATE Music and Door Prizes Provided CROWNING OF 2015 KING & QUEEN DMA NOTES VALENTINE’S DAY Feb. 3 DMA Luncheon (Soup & Sandwich) THE BEAST FEAST The precious Love I know with Thee Is wonderful dear God to me It fills my heart with sheer delight Thou art my strength, my hope, my light It teaches me to offer Love To work for only Thee above It takes away the wrongs I do And brings me to the heart of You.
