SCHEDULE: Doors open at 8:30 am and the Conference begins at 9:00 am. The conference will end at 5:00 pm. There will be a lunch break from 12-1pm. *See registration form for lunch options. Speaker topics to include: Child Abuse and Neglect – Signs and Prevention Foster Care Domestic Adoption Adoption from Foster Care International Adoption Orphan Hosting Missions Speakers include: Forrest Ferdon -Keynote: Forrest and his family lived in Ukraine as missionaries for 7 years, where they adopted several orphans. Forrest has unique insights into the hosting journey for orphans from eastern Europe. Erin Brown Conroy: Erin has 13 children, 8 of which are adopted (from Korea, Russia, Latvia, & Guatemala). Erin has written several books on parenting and has mentored many families through the adoption process. She is passionate about Adoption and seeks to encourage families through her books and speaking events. Karen Hayter: Karen is the president of the Kalamazoo County Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Council. She is also a former Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Kalamazoo County. Shelia Davis: Shelia is an adoptive mom of 3 children and a former foster parent. She is the director of Heaven Sent Adoptions, Inc, which specializes in domestic and MARE adoptions. Shelia has worked on the front lines to help prevent adoption schemes and was recently featured on Dateline NBC. Kristin Totten: A Kalamazoo attorney, Kristin’s law office represents children and families. Kristin will speak on the topics of the new Michigan Foster Parent’s Bill of Rights and various aspects of foster care and adoption. · A Panel of social workers to include CPS, Foster Care Case Manager, Adoption Workers, Foster Home Licensing Worker, Therapist, and Pediatric Medical Social Worker. · A Panel of experienced foster parents, adoptive parents, and host parents to orphans. We will raffle off items throughout the conference. Each registered guest will receive one free raffle ticket at the door.
