Buying
Buying a used car has always been a
risky venture, but there are tools and
information available today that greatly
reduce the uncertainty and stress that
are typically associated with the experience. Checking the reliability rating of a vehicle is a highly recommended first step in the buying process, and is as close as the internet
through MSN Autos (autos.msn.com).
This is the premiere site for obtaining
a free mechanical rating of the year,
make, and model that you are interested in buying. Reliability data is provided for the seven categories displayed in the following sample and
includes detail of the cost to repair any
moderate or significant problems reported for the particular vehicle being
researched. Your time is valuable and
the report gives you the opportunity to
qualify the vehicle as one worthy of a
test drive and further inspection by
your mechanic – an excellent way to
take the hassle out of finding a dependable set of wheels.

TEN SAVINGS TIPS
1. Write a list before you go shopping—and
stick to it!
2. Eliminate snack foods and substitute with
healthy replacements.
3. Shop generic brands for the items that you
buy regularly. Then watch your grocery bill get
smaller and smaller.
4. Cut coupons, but be careful—the generic
brand may be less expensive than using a coupon for the name brand.
5. Compare prices from store to store and plan meals around what’s on sale instead
of your cookbook.
6. Rent it out! Turn an extra bedroom into cash.
7. Stretch your wardrobe with clothes that mix and match well.
8. Bag your lunch during the work week, instead of eating out.
9. Turn off unneeded lights and switch to compact florescent bulbs as your incandescent light bulbs burn out.
10. Cell phone use has dramatically increased expenses for many households. Be
sensible in choosing a plan that meets your basic communication needs.

When it is cold outside, all families begin
to consider the high cost of utilities.
When you are under privileged and live
in a house that may have sub-standard
insulation, weatherization, or an old furnace, these concerns become even
more critical, and indeed, sometimes
dangerous. ECP's services include furnace repair or replacement, insulation,
weather stripping, and emergency assistance. ABC's Energy Conservation Program works with individuals and families
to ensure that all measures are being
taken to properly weatherize homes and
ensure peak efficiency of heating units
for income eligible families. This not only
provides safer environments for families,
but helps to maintain and improve housing stock throughout the City of Rochester. The ECP team also seeks to make
sure that customers are educated and
well-informed about emergency energy
and conservation measures that families
may initiate on their own.
