Who We Are
The Ohio Association of
Foodbanks is Ohio’s largest
charitable response to hunger.
Our mission is to assist Ohio’s 12 Feeding
America foodbanks in providing food and other
resources to people in need and to pursue
areas of common interest for the benefit of
people in need. Over 30% of those we serve
are children.

A lunch aide at a
Westerville school
cringed yesterday
as she watched a
young boy unpack
his lunch: a can of
orange soda, a
Twinkie and
Airheads fruit
candy.

Ridgewood Park in Blendon Township.
“I used to think
what a horrible
parent, but now
I’m sure they
couldn’t afford a
nutritious lunch,”
Elsie Hunt said.

Waiver request to USDA/CNR
One size does not fit all areas of Ohio.
• Waiver request to consider the increased SFSP
participation possible with federal reimbursement
of meals taken off-site to eat.
• CNR ask to allow states flexibility to look at noncongregate feeding in underserved areas as model
to boost participation in the program.
• Not replacement of congregate model! But will
work in areas that congregate model can not.
