The Freemasons’ Association will hold a fund raising night in aid of Macquarie University Motor
Neuron Disease Research, on Saturday 30 May 2015 at the St George Masonic Club, 86 Roberts
Road, Mortdale.
Motor Neuron Disease is an aggressive terminal neurological disease which strips sufferers of their
ability to use their limbs, speak, swallow and eventually breathe and all this while they remain
mentally aware. Professor Dominic Rowe, chairman of the research committee of Motor Neuron
Disease Australia said that there are about 1,400 Australians with the disease and the average
survival is three or four years from diagnosis to death.
The night features well-known Australian entertainer, Lucky Starr who is well-known for the hit
record “I’ve Been Everywhere” but whose style ranges from Rock & Roll, to Country through to
Jazz. In addition to touring Australia’s capitals and regional centres, Lucky has performed
extensively in the United States on the Nevada Circuit, The Flamingo in Las Vegas, The Mapes in
Reno and Harvey’s in Lake Tahoe. As a result of his success in America, Lucky was invited to
perform with the Hilton Chain world-wide and spent several years on tour. He was the first
Australian performer to entertain the troops in Vietnam and made five subsequent trips to the war
zone.
This is an event not to be missed and the President and members of the Committee of Management
look forward to your company on this special night.
Price $55 per person includes a two course meal served in the club auditorium at 7.00 pm. Tea,
coffee and beverages are at own cost. Please note that seating arrangements will be on the basis
of first come, first served. The Dinner Show will commence at 8.30 pm sharp.
