Friday Addition Syllabus: Spanish 2 Mrs. Maria Befus-Quesada Course Description: The course will include 3 different areas: Grammar, Conversation and Speaking/ Listening. In Grammar you will learn the basics of the Spanish language in order to speak correctly. In Conversation you will lose your fear of speaking Spanish and you will learn how to communicate with Spanish speakers. In Speaking/Listening you will begin to express and understand Spanish. This includes memorizing vocabulary that will help you communicate as well as listening to dialogues that will help you educate your ear to a new language. The class will be 80% Spanish and 20% English. Course Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Understand the basics of Spanish grammar. 2. Lose the Fear of Speaking Spanish 3. Be capable of Memorizing and putting into practice more than 200 new words in Spanish. 4. Be able to share the gospel in Spanish with their Friends. Method of Assessment: -Textbook : “Spanish” (Activities) -Audio CDs -Quizzes, Exams, Short Assignments Method of Assessement: -Practice : Dialogues in Class -Homework Practical Assignments -Speech (Talk in front of the class) -Projects Method of Assessement: -Weekly Vocabulary Memory quizzes. -Homework -Textbook and extra vocabulary material -Activities (class) Method of Assessement: - Practice in class - Group projects Class Policies: A. Class Expectations 1. Be in your seat by the time we start the class. 2. Read the board and follow the directions when you enter the room. 3. Bring all the supplies to class –binder, notebooks and pen/pencil. Everything you will need. If there is any extra material you will need for a special assignment you will be notified in advance. 4. Save food and drink for enjoying out of the class. 5. Turn homework and projects on time. Place the assignment in the correct bin on the day it is due. 6. Respect the teacher and your classmates by refraining from excessive taking, laughing or creating other classroom disturbances. Making fun of others will not be tolerated! 7. Cellphones will not be allow in the class. B. Discipline You will receive a warning call for the following… 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Unprepared for class. Creating classroom disturbance after one warning. Refusal work on class activities. Passing notes in class. Being disrespectful or making fun of others. C. Homework/Projects 1. Homework/projects are due before the class start on the day it is due in the correct binder. 2. Homework/projects with no name will be lowered by 10%. 3. If homework/projects are turned late your grade will be lowered by: 50% if turned in one day late, 60% if turned in 2 days late, 75% if turned in 3 days late, 0 if turned in 4 or more days late. You must complete all assignments to get your correct grade, so it is very wise to turn your homework on time. 4. When absent, you have the number of days you were gone plus one to make up the work assigned while you were gone. If turned in after that time period, the same late policies apply. 5. It is YOUR responsibility to come to the teacher to get your missing assignments once you return to school. 6. Work assigned before you were absent is due on the day you return to school. D. Bathroom Unless it is an emergency use the bathroom before the class. E. Cheating If you are caught cheating, you will receive a 0 for that assignment and your parents will be contacted. SPANISH CLASS 1. Binder: Your binder should be organized with the following tabs: Notes (fill with lined paper), Handouts, Quizzes, and Tests. There will be surprise binder checks. Failure of binder check equals half of the grade. Please keep your papers organized. 2. Friday: The last Friday of each month will be typically Spanish games (to review the vocabulary) or Spanish culture days (Sometimes we would have a special speaker to share about their culture). These special activities will be earned by the class during the week. The class earns this through their behavior, participation and good grades. 3. Verses: There will be monthly memory verse quizzes during the year. 4. Assignments: All assignments will be giving to you as well as displayed on the white board. Homework will be assigned several times a week. There will be a quiz every FRIDAY with the vocabulary we are learning from the textbook as well as any additional material we have covered. There will be 2 Spanish projects during the school year. The directions and dates will be giving by the teacher. 5. End of Classes: Please make sure you have all your belongings. Personal belongings left at the end of the day will be taken to lost and found. 6. GRADES Homework/Binder 10% Quizzes 20% Participation 10% Projects 10% Tests 20% Exam 30% 7.
