Colgate University Hamilton, NY Student Researcher, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Dr. Anthony Aveni 01/09 Traveled to Mexico City and collected data through a program of field measurements at colonial period archaeological sites in Mexico DF, Puebla, Tlaxcala, and Oaxaca with the cooperation and participation of Dr. Eleanor Wake of the University of London. Surveyed 16th-century colonial churches to help test the hypothesis of embedded stones in the buildings and worked with data collected in the field. Presented an oral as well as a written paper titled The Art of Conversion: 16th-century Religious Murals, which focused on the complexities of using religious art to promote religious conversion among indigenous populations.
