Thr!ve Intern and Leadership Program is a summer internship program designed to provide African American male students with employment opportunities to gain valuable professional experience in a variety of career fi elds. Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III’s vision is to prepare these students to become future leaders of tomorrow. Through leadership workshops, one-on-one mentoring and professional development interns will be equipped with the skills they need to become successful individuals in the community. Data has proven that regardless of socio-economic classifi cation, African American boys and young men are disproportionately at risk throughout life from early childhood to adulthood. Our goal is to close the economic gap for these students by exposing them to meaningful career related experiences in fields such as technology, law, business, healthcare, education, government and the nonprofit sector. The program launches Summer of 2014 and is partnering with corporations, small businesses and non-profits throughout the Dallas area and intends to provide 200 intern positions. Our partners are committed to our mission and are making an impact in the community by unlocking and developing the potential that these young people have as they prepare for college and the workforce. Who are the Thr!ve Intern? To become a candidate for the Thr!ve Intern & Leadership Program students must be an African American male at least 16 years old and be able to work in the United States.
