I would like to say "Thank You" to the United Methodist Women and the Sisterhood for such a
nice luncheon we had on Saturday, March 7. The program: "How to grow old gracefully", was
wonderful with 10 of the UMW speaking. There was a total of 22 people attending. The food
was delicious and a good variety. It was fun to look at the yearbooks. "Thanks" to everyone for setting up,
getting supplies out to use, preparing and putting away. You were all wonderful! Shirley Miller

APRIL 12 — HOLY HUMOR SUNDAY — Many American churches have
resurrected an old Easter custom begun in the early centuries of Christianity:
“Bright Sunday” was a laughter-filled celebration of Jesus' resurrection on the
Sunday after Easter. The custom was rooted in the musings of early church
theologians that God played a practical joke on the devil by raising Jesus from the
dead. Deer Park Church will continue this tradition, with the theme this year of
"Hats off to the Lord!” Expect to experience expressions of Easter joy along with
light-hearted music, jokes, and skits. So, on April 12, you are encouraged to wear
a smile, your brightest colors, and especially a funny hat...or any hat you’d like to wear, even an Easter hat.
And, oh yes, invite a friend or two to share the fun!--Joy Grimm for the Worship Team

As you may have noticed, the Sunday b ulletin Announcements have undergone a change, to replace
the bi-monthly Spirit newsletter. This is being tested as a better method of keeping the congregation up
to date not only on happenings, etc. but also to allow reports and other information to be in the hands
of the congregation faster than waiting for the bi-monthly newsletter. Please send the editor at
[email protected] any comments or suggestions that you may have or contact the
church office. Your input will be appreciated.
