The Coach:
Gloucestershire College Blazers’ first Basketball Camp will take place during
Easter 2015 and will be led by Danny James.
Danny is a former professional basketball player who grew up in Gloucester,
he has also played for England and Great Britain at numerous age groups.
Danny has also been coaching for 20 years and is a Tutor running courses to
develop future coaches. A level III Advanced Coach Danny now focuses on
Basketball development.
Danny most recently formed and developed the Bristol Academy Flyers
Basketball Club coaching the club for 10 years while also setting up and
developing one of the most successful junior programmes in the country
which includes SGS College’s Basketball Academy.
Danny is now heavily involved with developing players and clubs to meet
the demands of basketball at all levels. He is now involved with the
Regional Performance Centre (after a few years’ absence) and will be
working with coaches and players to develop some of the region’s top
prospects.
Danny is going to be helping the Blazers develop both on and off the court
and brings with him a huge amount of skill and knowledge. This will be the
first opportunity for young people in Gloucester to attend a Basketball Camp
like this.
The days will focus on individual fundamentals and skill development which
will include plenty of opportunities to test participants in shooting
competitions and also team games at the end of each day.
The Camps will be fun and informative and will allow players of all levels to
enjoy and develop their basketball skills.
