t he GCC Academic System emphasises enhancing both accuracy and fluency to motivate
English study and boost student's confidence in using English. Qualified and experienced
teachers use innovative teaching methods, overseen by the Director of Studies.
The students are able to engage in 1:1 consultations with their teacher to ensure they are on
the right track and students benefit greatly from the feedback and comments they receive.
When students progress to a higher level of English learning, the whole cycle will repeat itself
until students reach their goal.
P. I . E System
The Gold Coast College P.I.E System is designed to help students reach their academic pathway
by focusing on the specific needs of each student.
Morning Classes from 8.45am - 12.00pm, students follow course book based lessons, which
help improve all of their English skills.
Afternoon classes from 12.40pm - 2.15pm, students attend English classes which focus on
individual student needs and English Pathway.
Monthly tests and one-to-one consultations every Friday.
We have designed Extra IN ENGLISH classes to assist students to keep on track.
12 weeks English Progress Assurance
We are so sure of the P.I.E System that we will give additional study weeks for free if a student does
not advance to the next level after the completion of 12 weeks.

The Gold Coast College curricular and levels
of English proficiency are based on the Common European Framework of Reference(CEFR)
and incorporate international standard English proficiency tests.
The chart shows how we measure a student's

GENERAL ENGLISH
General English language courses from Beginner to Advanced are designed to develop your
reading, listening, speaking and writing skills. Teachers will help you progress through the course
using core textbooks and other related texts and materials such as newspapers, magazines, radio,
television and certain Internet sites. As well as working individually with the teacher, you will often
work in pairs and in groups. Teachers will observe you in each lesson daily, give regular homework
and assignment and provide tests to determine your progress.

Diploma of Business is our ‘Entrepreneur Bootcamp’: all the
teachers and tutors have worked in their own businesses, so they
have real practical knowledge of how businesses operate. They
can help you get your own business started or improve
your results in your current job. The eight units in the Diploma
are all practical and realistic choices that relate to day to day work
in the real world, and the text book and handouts are ‘cutting
edge’ contemporary business practice. The teaching faculty is
at the college 5 days a week and they will help you relate your
study to the world in which you are working right now. Most units
have two written assessment tasks and there are two ‘Observations’
in the course. There is no exam.
Advanced Diploma of Business is our ‘Entrepreneur Master
Class’: The teachers have extensive business experience, or
postgraduate university qualifications, or both. All students in the
class must have substantial business experience or a Diploma
of Business or higher. Discussions in the class focus on the kinds
of problems, opportunities and changes that business leaders
face in the real world. The subjects we have chosen present

Coach Experience
Since the 1980s, Ian has coached multiple high-achieving elite players from
Australian and overseas, including : John Senden, Karrie Webb, Peter Senior, Rachel
Hetherington, Gloria Park, Maria Hjorth, Fiona Pike, Scott Laycock, Brad Kennedy,
Craig Jones, Kristie Smith, Sarah Kemp, Katherine Hull, LindsaynWright, Pat Hurst,
Tamie Durdin, Ayako Uehara, Stephanie Na, Il Mi Chung, Brownyn Mullins-Lane,
Adam Crawford, Marcus Cain, Beatriz Recari, So Yeon Ryu, Vicky Thomas, Susie
Mathews, Bronson Le Cassie and Sarah Jane Smith, to name a few.
Currently, Ian travels extensively to coach many of aforementioned players who are
on the major tours throughout the World Tours.
Ian has been named Queensland PGA Coach of the year Three Times : In 1993,
2001 and 2006.
Also he was awarded the Australian PGA Teacher of the Year in 2008.

If you are applying for an Australian Student Visa, you will receive a Confirmation of
Enrolment(COE), which you must present to the nearest Australian Embassy Visa office.
