BRIEF REPORT ON COLLEGE CAMPUS CLEANING

As per the NSS instructions and Guidelines we planned our task of campus cleaning, then a day before the decided date
of cleaning all volunteers made eco friendly dustbin using waste cardboard boxes which were boxes of new
machineries and computer accessories. To clearly notify it as a dustbin we wrapped it with used EG sheets of previous
semester students.
On the campus cleaning day all volunteers assembled at the ground. The area of cleaning of respective groups was predecided. Reanalyzing all information for the last time on the go by Keyur D Tandel (NSS programme officer) we started
our activity. All the plastic, paper waste, leftovers of cement sack and leafs started disappearing in the college campus.
The filled dustbins were emptied in a pre-decided place where wind was not so strong so that it does not fly away
again. Voices of all volunteers making small jokes, laughing all together were echoing in the ground, all were doing the
job happily. The dump-pit started growing larger and larger and our campus started looking cleaner and fresh. When
the job was done everyone gathered together, took the photographs and took some rest. Then they pick themselves up
and started to the next task Hostel cleaning. As the football ground was included in the area under boy’s hostel we
thought it would take much time to finish the job. But as soon as we started cleaning the area the non – volunteers in
boy’s hostel came to help us and the job was finished in no time. They thanked us to start such program and also
inspiring them to keep their area clean.
After our task was completed, when we walked through the campus in the scorching heat of the afternoon, the
satisfaction of the job gave a feeling of walking in the first rain of monsoon.
