Get Burly is a fitness program designed to promote athletes to be the best version of themselves
through supporting their peers and through team building and fitness initiatives.
Get Burly’s President & Vice President are Spartan SGX certified and have worked together with
SWAT Academy leaders to develop a program specifically for the high school athlete. Get Burly
will use it’s theme of passion, realization, and commitment to challenge participants in a safe,
fun, and collaborative manner with a program designed to forge mental toughness, emotional
resiliency, and trust. This program creates multiple platforms and opportunities for participants to
face and overcome adversity and challenges.
Teams will be required to work together to achieve common goals and conquer obstacles.
Teams and athletes will walk away with a greater sense of self, camaraderie, and important
leadership skills that will further solidify the platform for success.
“My son along with his high school football teammates went to Spartan Race World Headquarters in Pittsfield, VT
with Get Burly for a retreat in August 2014. Michael Caron, Shannon Manning, and the Get Burly instructors took
charge the moment the weekend began until the boys were dismissed to their parents at the end of the weekend. The
Get Burly crew had a well structured itinerary for the boys. Throughout the weekend the boys were both mentally
and physically challenged. They built up their confidence and leadership skills through hands on activities and group
discussions. They were taught the importance of teamwork, self discipline, and camaraderie. The lessons learned on
this weekend helped contribute to a very successful football season. The team bonding that occurred was amazing
and continues to this day. I know these are life lessons as well and will help these boys transition into fine young
