The objectives of the training are to assist Administrators, Admissions Directors, Social Workers, and Business Office staff to recognize Medicaid eligibility concerns from the point of admission as well as streamline and update Admission and Business Office Practices. Participants will learn to assist the residents and family members to secure Medicaid approval in a more timely manner, in-turn improving the cash velocity for each facility. The first half of the program begins with detailed training on basic Medicaid eligibility which can be used to train new employees, cross-train existing staff, or refresh and update seasoned partners. All attendees will become a skilled resource for your residents and their families, as well as your company. The second half of the program will focus on common reasons for Medicaid denials, and how to recognize and avoid them. Specifically, Medicaid policies related to the death and burial exclusions, Qualified Income Trusts ("QITs"), and Incurred Medical Expenses ("IMEs). Additionally, it will outline the new policies recently implemented regarding the retroactive Medicaid policy. Becky Hewitt Longterm Care Reimbursement Specialist Hall Booth Smith, P.C. ABOUT THE PRESENTER Becky Hewitt has worked in medical reimbursement for over 18 years, specifically in the Long-Term Care industry for 16 years. She has worked at the facility level as a Business Office Manager and at the operations level as a Regional Consultant to Admissions, Marketing, and Business Office staff. Currently, she is one of the Long-Term Care Reimbursement Specialists with Hall Booth Smith, P.C. and has assisted facilities all over the state recover millions of dollars in Medicaid revenue since joining the firm in 2011. Judy Adan, Longterm Care Reimbursement Specialist, Hall Booth Smith, P.C Judy Adan worked for the Department of Family and Children Services for 30 year prior to retiring from State government. During her tenure at DFCS, she worked as a caseworker, supervisor, manager and director in the Adult and Family Medicaid Sections. She joined Hall Booth Smith, PC in September 2014 and is currently working as a Long-Term Care Reimbursement Specialist for the firm.
