We are excited to welcome the new director, Ron Pauli, who will help
us begin a new chapter at the Glen Carbon Centennial Library District.
Ron graduated from Chicago’s Dominican University with a Master’s
Degree in Library and Information Science in January 2001 and quickly
fell in love with public librarianship. He worked at the Geneva Public
Library for 11 years, progressing from Reference Librarian to Young
Adult Librarian to Reference Services Coordinator. Ron spent one year
at the McHenry Public Library District as the Assistant Department
Head of Adult Services before moving to the Aurora Public Library as a
Branch Coordinator, where he served for about three years.
Ron said he believes in placing customer service at the forefront of all
decision making, while building relationships and responding to the
ever-changing needs of the library’s patrons.
Ron has three children, two grown boys and a daughter who attends
college. He was married for 20 years and lost his dear wife, Carol, to
breast cancer in 2006. Ron remarried in 2012 to Lisha, a high-school
English teacher and mother of two teenage daughters. His interests
include long distance bicycling, motorcycle riding, kayaking, and
camping. He and his wife love being outdoors, and spend vacations
camping and kayaking in southern Illinois.
Anne became the Library Director in 1995 when the library was
on School Street. She was one of the biggest driving forces in
advocating for the library’s new building, which was completed
in 2004.
In 2010, Anne led the library in winning Best Small Library in
America, awarded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and
the American Library Association. Anne was also responsible for
earning numerous grants on behalf of the library, which have
benefited the library’s collection and use of technology. She was
also instrumental in getting the library designated as a district.
Anne has been recognized by the Illinois House of
Representatives 96th General Assembly as a symbol of respect
and esteem and was awarded the Illinois State Library’s 2010
Librarian of the Year award.
Although no longer a fixture at the library, Anne will continue
library work at the state level during retirement. She was
recently appointed to the Illinois State Library Advisory
Committee and was elected to the Illinois Library Association's
Board of Directors. In addition, Anne plans to care-give her new
granddaughter two days a week.
Each participant will receive a $2 credit toward any fine, Book Sale item, copy,
fax, or coffee cart drink.
