Week 1 Practice Plan – Days 1, 2, and 3 Welcome to Week 1 of our Golf Improvement Academy Program. By now you’ve read through all the educational material to learn the fundamentals behind putting, chipping, and the golf swing. You’ve also printed out our Scorecard worksheet as well as each individual statistic tracking worksheet (FIR, GIR, Scrambling, Putting). These will be used to track your results when you go out onto the course and play 18 holes. Now you’ve reached the practice plan portion of our Golf Improvement Academy. This first week we’ve created a basic practice plan for you to go to the golf course and complete for day 1, day 2, and day 3. Yes it’s the same practice all week. The weeks following week 1 will have separate practices usually for days 1, 2, and 3 so that you mix up your practices throughout the week to hit different aspects of each skill. Each practice focuses on the key 5 areas of your golf game: Fairways in Regulation Greens in Regulation Scrambling Chipping Putting You’ll find the skill name, list of drills, and instructions on how to complete the drills. A worksheet will follow so that you can fill it out at your practice to track your results as instructed. You’ll also find an Estimated Completion Time after the instructions so that you can get a feel for how long each section of drills should take as well as your total practice time if you were to add them all together. This program requires your commitment and actually filling out worksheets to track your results and progress. We hope you enjoy it and feel free to put in extra work in one of the 5 skill groups if you find yourself struggling to improve or behind the average curve. Fairways in Regulation Today’s Drills to Improve FIR %: 10 shots with Driver to a 30 yard wide zone on the driving range to simulate a 30 yard wide fairway. 10 shots with Fairway wood to 30 yard wide zone on the driving range 5 shots with Driver to a 30 yard wide zone on the driving range 5 shots with Fairway wood to a 30 yard wide zone on the driving range 10 shots to a 30 yard wide zone alternating with Driver (5) & Fairway wood (5) Instructions: Pick a target to align your-self to and imagine 15 yards on each side of the target to create your 30 yard wide zone. Estimated Completion Time: 20 minutes Greens in Regulation Today’s Drills to Improve GIR %: Hit 5 shots to a target out in the driving range and record how many stay within a 10 yard wide zone that simulates a 10 yard wide green. Repeat the bullet above for your 9 iron, 8 iron, 7 iron, 6 iron, and 5 iron for a total of 25 shots to a 10 yard wide zone on the driving range. Instructions: For each of the 5 clubs, find a target that matches closely to how far you can hit that club. Aim yourself at the target using alignment rods on the ground. After each 5 shots with a club, fill in the worksheet for how many would have hit a green out of 5.
