Job Description
The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for the overall inspection, maintenance, and repairs of a brand
new, state-of-the-art, 75,000 ft2 greenhouse and food packaging facility scheduled to open in June 2015 in Pullman,
Chicago. The position is nonunion; it will require performing regular maintenance and repairs of greenhouse production
equipment, HVAC, electrical, plumbing/PVC, automation, and packaging equipment. The technician must inspect,
maintain, and repair building related equipment and ensure optimal performance of greenhouse and production system
equipment.
This is a hands-on role requiring technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing/PVC, and HVAC systems. The
ideal candidate will possess the keen ability to identify and address maintenance and mechanical failures of company
equipment and structural deficiencies. This position requires the common knowledge of mechanical installations,
servicing, dismantling, rebuilding, and maintenance of Green House equipment, machinery, and knowledge of commercial
building HVAC, plumbing/PVC, pumps, and electrical systems.

Coordinates and conducts maintenance and repairs of company equipment and the building; proactively
addresses areas of concern to minimize unplanned downtime, increases equipment efficiency, and
maintains a clean, safe work environment
Performs plumbing/PVC, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and general repairs, is able to change light
bulbs and ballast of various sizes and voltages, and use cleaning equipment such as brooms and shovels
Accesses the need of third party contractors and repair personnel usage, negotiates related contracts,
schedules and assists in the completion of, and inspection of, on-site repairs including annual and seasonal
inspections
Analyzes and troubleshoots equipment, conducts repairs, modifications, and predictive/preventative
maintenance on building and facilities equipment (HVAC, freezers, exhaust fans, pumps, plumbing fixtures,
and systems); spackles, paints, and repairs interior and exterior demarcations
Utilizes strong mechanical and electrical aptitude skills in order to complete assignments
Complies with established State and Federal Regulations, Environmental, OSHA, and Safety programs.
Develops preventive maintenance SOPs and methods of record keeping
Operates, maintains, and repairs, tools and other various equipment, organizes and manages all supplies
and spare parts inventory, capable of receiving materials and utilizing hand operated dolly carts (forklift
license a plus)
Performs Daily, Weekly, Monthly, and Annual inspections and checklists for maintenance and food safety
plans
Completes routine service requests within 24 hours
Assists in maintaining outstanding interior and exterior curb appeal as well as parking lot maintenance
Good record keeping and organization of maintenance schedules and records
Regular communication with management on maintenance schedules
Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalent trade school credentials
7-10 years of experience in operations maintenance, including 2 years as a Facility Maintenance Technician
or Mechanic, or the demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience in a plant and
manufacturing facility
Experience in the operations and maintenance at a commercial or industrial work environment

Familiarity with reading and interpreting blue prints, schematics, and one-line drawings
Must have experience and be able to perform PVC and plumbing repairs, electrical, HVAC, Carpentry, and
Painting
Experience with material handling and construction, advanced knowledge of power tools, operating
various measuring, diagnostic and testing instruments to help provide energy efficient solutions
Ability to perform under minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment in problem resolutions
Passionate commitment to company vision, high attention to detail; highly organized and an
entrepreneurial team player who can multitask
Appreciation to principles of sustainable agriculture and food, experience in specialty food, agriculture,
natural and organic CPG a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Adjusts to changing conditions and willingness to works off-shift, holidays, and weekends as needed.
Must be available for Overtime for emergency calls will be expected 24-7

The Facility Manager will report to the Plant Manager and will work closely with all supervisors and managers. The Facility
Manager will coordinate with the Plant Manager and Senior Grower to maintain greenhouse facility and equipment in
optimal working condition. In addition the Facility Manager will be responsible for maintaining data and logs related to
proper maintenance and operation of all greenhouse equipment. Facility Manager must be available to work holidays and
weekends based on demands of the business and be on call 24x7 for emergencies.
