2014 Annual Report - GPS Education Partners

2014
ANNUAL REPORT
Dear Friends,
GPS Education Partners makes a tremendous impact on the lives of young people. We have designed
a rigorous and relevant educational model that leverages the expertise of business and community
partners. By bringing critical partners to the table, we are able to provide students with a unique
model that applies a personalized learning approach while blending theory and practical application in a real time work environment. The credits and credentials achieved through GPS not only
result in a high school diploma, but also support an accelerated pathway to career employment and
continuing education.
As we reflect on our 2014 fiscal year, it was a time of immense growth as we simultaneously made
great strides toward an even greater future. In the following pages, you’ll see that we continue to
expand our offerings in the state of Wisconsin, reaching more students than ever. You’ll find our
financial position to be stronger. You’ll meet some of our students through their stories of
challenge, triumph, and hope. And you’ll see our vision for the future, in which an integrated
learning model meets immersion into businesses beyond the borders of our state.
As ever, our growth and success is attributable to our students, who commit to a challenging new
lifestyle that puts them in the “real world” for the first time; our staff, who works tirelessly to
instruct our students, innovate our methods, and improve our growing suite of educational options;
and you, our supporters and partners. We could not hope to succeed without your continued partnership. As you read the following pages, I ask that you keep that fact in mind—we couldn’t do this
without you.
With enduring appreciation for all that you do for GPS Education Partners and our students,
Stephanie Borowski
Stephanie Borowski
GPS President
Friends,
The past year has been another outstanding year for GPS Education Partners. Our fifteen education
centers immersed within the manufacturer's facilities offer our students the best school to work
experience. Our students work side by side adult mentors as youth apprentices learning technical
skills and strong work ethics. We are proud that GPS Education Partners offers more apprenticeship
opportunities than any other program in the state of Wisconsin.
Our education model and specially designed curriculum challenges our students as evidenced by the
MSCC assessment. This national Production Technician Certification recognizes rigorous
individual achievement. The class of 2014 Graduating Seniors have scored significantly higher than
the national average and our high graduation rates for more than a decade continues to reflect
our proven track record of success. We are honored that our innovative Advanced Manufacturing
Certificate Pathway developed in partnership with Generac and GE and Kettle Moraine High School
has already gained such positive attention from state and national groups focused on workforce
development.
We are confident for our future success. We are enjoying unprecedented growth in staff and resources to guarantee our goal of being the premier transformative education model to meet the
needs of our students and the needs of business. The collaborative process to find partners committed to developing high performance outcomes is ongoing. These are exciting times where the
attention has turned to find "solutions" to workforce development and student employability
concerns. The GPS Education Partners is that solution.

Stampings Corp. thanks to the generous support of the MMAC Council of Small Business
Executives and the Helen Bader Foundation (now Bader Philanthropies, Inc.).
BPM, Inc. Education Center opens in Peshtigo, which leads to our first out of state business
partnerships (Anchor Coupling, Inc. and R.W. Fernstrom in Menominee, MI and

RAM Tool in Grafton welcomes GPS students and staff by becoming a GPS Education Center.
With the support of United Way of Waukesha County, GPS has extended its commitment to students by
planning and launching a Parent Engagement Program to foster positive communication and relationships,
as well as increase parental involvement with their children’s education as engaged partners and primary
influencers of character and success. The Biggest Job We’ll Ever Have, by Laura
and Malcom Gauld, serves as a tool and resource for the group.
The majority of GPS students graduate with nationally recognized Certified Production Technician
(CPT) Certification from the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council (MSSC), a GPS program
offering made possible by the Harley-Davidson Foundation.
